Mitra Farahani
Mitra Farahani (in fa, میترا فراهانی; born 1975) is an Iranian filmmaker and painter who currently lives in Paris. Biography Mitra Farahani was born on January 27, 1975 in Tehran, Pahlavi Iran. Farahani has a degree in graphic art (1997) from Islamic Azad University in Tehran. After graduation she moved to Paris in 1998. In 1999, she lived in Hamburg briefly. In 2000, she studied at École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris. The film ''Tabous - Zohre & Manouchehr'' (2004) is about her artistic pursuits. She was arrested on June 17, 2009, by the Iranian government, on her arrival in Tehran from Paris and held in Evin Prison. It is said that her arrest is linked to the crackdown of opposition by the Iranian government following the Presidential election, and by angering the Iranian government by making non-Islamic films outside Iran. 72nd Berlin International Film Festival
The 72nd annual Berlin International Film Festival, usually called the Berlinale took place from 10 to 20 February 2022 in person. On 15 December 2021 the first film of the festival was announced. The festival opened with François Ozon's drama film '' Peter von Kant''. Isabelle Huppert was awarded Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement on 15 February 2022 at the Berlinale Palast award ceremony. Her film by Laurent Larivière, ''À propos de Joan'' was also screened. The awards were presented on 16 February 2022 truncating the festival by 4 days. 2009 Iranian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Iran on 12 June 2009, with incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad running against three challengers. The next morning the Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran's news agency, announced that with two-thirds of the votes counted, Ahmadinejad had won the election with 62% of the votes cast, and that Mir-Hossein Mousavi had received 34% of the votes cast. There were large irregularities in the results and people were surprised by them, which resulted in protests of millions of Iranians, across every Iranian city and around the world and the emergence of the opposition Iranian Green Movement. New Horizons Film Festival (previously: Era New Horizons; pl: Nowe Horyzonty) is an international film festival held annually in July in Wrocław, Poland. It has been organised since 2001. It is one of the biggest and most popular film festivals in Poland. Since 2008 it is accredited by FIAPF with an "avant-garde" specialised competitive status.
