Mitchell Hawks
The Mitchell Hawks are a Junior ice hockey team based in Mitchell, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Mitchell Hawks were founded in 1966 in one of the many Ontario Hockey Association Junior C leagues. They finished low in the standings and were allowed to compete in the Junior D provincial championships. In the Junior D play downs, the Hawks found their niche and made it all the way to the OHA Cup final against a representative from Madoc, Ontario. The Hawks came up short and lost the series 4-games-to-1. The following season, the same scenario played out in the Western Junior C league and the Hawks were entered into the Junior D playoffs. The Hawks again made it to the final and defeated a representative from Bobcaygeon, Ontario, 4-games-to-none with one tie to win their first provincial championship in only their second season. Mitchell, Ontario
Mitchell is a community in the municipality of West Perth, part of Perth County, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the intersection of Ontario Highways 8 and 23, northwest of Stratford, and north of London. Mitchell is no longer a separate entity. On January 1, 1998, the town amalgamated with the neighbouring Townships of Logan, Fullarton, and Hibbert to form the new Municipality of West Perth. As of 2016, the former town of Mitchell has a population of 4,573 in a land area of ; it has 1,827 occupied private dwellings. The Plattsville Lakers are a Semi-Pro ice hockey team based in the township of Blandford-Blenheim in Plattsville, Ontario, Canada. The Lakers joined the Western Ontario Super Hockey League in 2022, after being a part of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League from 2015-2022. They were originally located in Port Stanley, Ontario, and then in West Lorne, Ontario, and London, Ontario. Goderich Flyers
The Goderich Flyers are members of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) and are based in Goderich, Ontario, Canada. History After the failed and short-lived Lakeshore Pirates folded in 1999, the town of Goderich pushed for a new team. They were granted expansion in 2003 after the folding of the Wiarton Wolves. The team was named the Sailors after another Junior C team that had folded in 1993. The Sailors were granted a leave of absence for the 2013-14 season to try and re-organize. Wingham Ironmen
The Wingham Ironmen are a Junior ice hockey team based in Wingham, Ontario, Canada. They began play in the Northern Junior D Hockey League and eventually moved up to the Western Junior C Hockey League where they played until the 2016-17 season when the league became part of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) as the Pollock Division. History Founded in 1973, the Ironmen started out in Northern Junior D Hockey League where they played for six seasons. After some success at the Junior D level, the Ironmen joined the Central Junior C Hockey League in 1979. In 1980, the league changed its name to the Grey-Bruce Junior C Hockey League to reflect the centralization of the league in Grey-Bruce counties region. The Walkerton Capitals are a Junior ice hockey team based in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Junior C Hockey League. until the 2016-17 season when the league became a division became the Pollock Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Walkerton Blackhawks entered the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League in 1976, jumping up from Junior D. The Delhi Travellers are a junior hockey team based in Delhi, Ontario, Canada. The Travellers play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History Prior to 1966, the Delhi franchise was a member of the Shamrock Junior D Hockey League. In 1966, they jumped to the Southern Counties Junior D Hockey League. In 1972, the team changed their name from the Rockets to the Flames. The 1980-81 season saw the Flames raise to the heights of provincial recognition. They finished second overall in the Southern league standings with 21 wins, seven losses, and six ties, a fair distance behind the first place St. George Dukes. Once in the playoffs, the Flames took the Southern league by storm and won their first ever league championship. The Port Stanley Sailors are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Port Stanley, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Sailors were formerly known as the Belmont Bombers, playing their last season as the Bombers in 05-06. Prior to the 06-07 season, they changed their name to the Central Elgin Express. This was done as the team was going to be splitting their home games between Belmont and Port Stanley.
