Mitchel Scanlon is a British writer of science fiction novels and comics. He wrote novels for the ''Warhammer 40,000'' franchise, and novels featuring '' 2000 AD'' character Judge Anderson. ''Warhammer 40,000'' is a miniature wargame produced by Games Workshop. It is the most popular miniature wargame in the world, and is particularly popular in the United Kingdom. The first edition of the rulebook was published in September 1987, and the ninth and current edition was released in July 2020. As in other miniature wargames, players enact battles using miniature models of warriors and fighting vehicles. The playing area is a tabletop model of a battlefield, comprising models of buildings, hills, trees, and other terrain features. Each player takes turns moving their model warriors around the battlefield and fighting their opponent's warriors. These fights are resolved using dice and simple arithmetic. ''Warhammer 40,000'' is set in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is beset by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures. ''2000 AD'' is a weekly British science fiction-oriented British comics, comic magazine. As a comics anthology it serialises stories in each issue (known as "progs") and was first published by IPC Media, IPC Magazines in 1977, the first issue dated 26 February. Since 2000 it has been published by Rebellion Developments. ''2000 AD'' is most noted for its ''Judge Dredd'' stories, and has been contributed to by a number of artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally, such as Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Grant Morrison, Brian Bolland, Mike McMahon (comics), Mike McMahon, John Wagner, Alan Grant (writer), Alan Grant and Garth Ennis. Judge Anderson
Judge Cassandra Anderson is a fictional law enforcer and psychic appearing in the British science fiction comics '' 2000 AD'' and the '' Judge Dredd Megazine''. Created by writer John Wagner and artist Brian Bolland, Anderson made her debut as a supporting character in the '' Judge Dredd'' story "Judge Death" (''2000 AD'' #150, February 1980). The character's popularity with readers led to her starring in her own series, ''Anderson: Psi-Division'', which (since 1988) has been written almost exclusively by Alan Grant, often working with artist Arthur Ranson until 2005; Boo Cook drew a majority of the stories until 2012, since which a number of different artists have worked on the strip. In 2012, the character appeared in the film '' Dredd'', played by Olivia Thirlby. Black Library
The Black Library is a division of Games Workshop (formerly a part of BL Publishing) which is devoted to publishing novels and audiobooks (and has previously produced art books, background books, and graphic novels) set in the '' Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer Age of Sigmar'' and '' Warhammer 40,000'' fictional universes. Some of Black Library's best known titles include the Gaunt's Ghosts and Eisenhorn series of novels by Dan Abnett and the Gotrek and Felix series by William King and Nathan Long.
