Mister Terrific (character)
Mister Terrific is the name of two superheroes in the DC Comics Universe. The original Golden Age hero, Terry Sloane, was a millionaire with a photographic memory and athletic skills who became the superhero after rescuing a woman from suicide. He formed the "Fair Play Club" to combat juvenile delinquency and was a member of the Justice Society of America. He was killed in a 1979 story. The second Mister Terrific debuted in 1997. Michael Holt was inspired by Sloane's story. Also highly skilled and intelligent, Holt invented the T-Sphere, a versatile device controlled by his mask and earpieces. He served in the Justice Society of America and had a short-lived standalone comic book series. The "Mister Terrific" concept was also adapted into other versions and storylines. Terry Sloane is a fictional superhero appearing in DC Comics, and the first character named Mister Terrific (character), Mister Terrific. He first appeared in ''Sensation Comics'' #1 (January 1942). Fictional character biography Terry Sloane was a rich man whose photographic memory, Olympic-level athletic skills, and mastery of the martial arts made him a virtual Polymath, Renaissance man. After graduating college at age thirteen, he eventually became a renowned business leader in the community. Having accomplished all of his goals by the time he was in his early 20s, Terry felt there were no challenges left for him to pursue, leading him towards suicidal tendencies. However, upon seeing a young woman jump from a bridge, Sloane reacted quickly and saved her. He learned her name was Wanda Wilson. DC Universe (franchise)
The DC Universe (DCU) is an American media franchise and shared universe based on characters from DC Comics publications. It was created by James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. Kingdom Come (comic Book)
''Kingdom Come'' is a four-issue comic book miniseries published in 1996 by DC Comics under their Elseworlds imprint. It was written by Mark Waid and painted in gouache by Alex Ross, who also developed the concept from an original idea. The story is set in an alternate future of the DC Universe. The new generation of heroes have lost their moral compass, becoming as reckless and violent as the villains they fight. The New 52
The New 52 was the 2011 revamp and relaunch by DC Comics of its entire Line (comics), line of ongoing monthly superhero American comic books, comic books. Following the conclusion of the "Flashpoint (comics), Flashpoint" Fictional crossover, crossover storyline, DC cancelled all its existing titles and debuted 52 new series in September 2011. Among the renumbered series were ''Action Comics'' and ''Detective Comics'', which had retained their original numbering since the 1930s. The Spirit King (Roger Romaine) is a character in the fictional DC Universe; he was initially an adversary of the original Mister Terrific, but later expanded to be a threat to the entire Justice Society, particularly the Spectre and the Flash. A polymath or polyhistor is an individual whose knowledge spans many different subjects, known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.
