Mission Aigle
The ''Mission Aigle'' is a French-led military mission deployed to Romania following the activation of the ''Graduated Response Plans'' by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe as a response to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Following this decision, France sent troops to Romania on 28 February 2022 in order to strengthen the NATO, Alliance's deterrent and defensive posture against Russia. History On 28 February 2022, France deployed a spearhead battalion of the NATO Response Force, rapid response force to Romania. On 1 May 2022, the multinational battalion constituted the Battle Group Forward Presence (BGFP) in Romania, with France as the lead nation. For the first time, France assumed the role of leading nation in a NATO reassurance mission. RoAF 57th Air Base
The 57th Air Base "Captain Aviator Constantin Cantacuzino" (), also known as Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, is a Romanian Air Force base located near Constanța, at the Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport. It is home to the 572nd Helicopter Squadron. The air base also has a significant US military presence, being the location of the US Army Garrison Black Sea and Area Support Group Black Sea, hosting over 1,400 US troops. In 2024, construction began on a project aimed at modernizing and expanding the base. The Cincu Training Center, officially the National Joint Training Center "Getica" () is a training center and shooting range for military personnel and units up to brigade level. It is located in the commune Cincu, Brașov County in the center of Romania. The center is subordinated to the General Staff of the Land Forces. History The first training ground in the Cincu area was established in 1913 by the Austro-Hungarian XII. Army Corps.
