Miss World Australia
Miss World Australia is a national beauty pageant that selects Australia's representative to the Miss World pageant since 2002. Two Australian representatives have won the Miss World title in 1968 and 1972. History In 2006 the national contest was cancelled and Sabrina Houssami was controversially crowned the winner and placed second runner up at Miss World. In 2012, Jessica Kahawaty also placed second runner up. Australia has been crowned Queen of Oceania each year since 2013. Penelope Plummer became Australia's first Miss World in 1968. Belinda Green became Miss World in 1972. Before the Miss World Australia contest was instituted in 2002, Australian representatives to the international Miss World pageants were chosen from candidates at the Miss Australia pageant. Miss World 2012 was the 62nd edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos City, China, on 18 August 2012. Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela crowned Yu Wenxia of China as her successor at the end of the event. This is the second time China has won the title. Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Ashleigh Carmen Francis (born 12 May 1988) is an Australian TV host, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She won the title of Miss World Australia 2010 and represented her country at Miss World 2010 but unplaced. She is of Australian, Scottish and Jamaican descent. She is tall. In Miss World 2010, Francis placed in the finals for Beach Beauty, Sport and Talent (top 10).
