Miss World 2006
Miss World 2006 was the 56th edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Sala Kongresowa, a theatre at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland, on 30 September 2006. It was the first time ever that the pageant was held in the Continental Europe and a European city other than London. At the end of the event, Taťána Kuchařová of Czech Republic was crowned by the previous winner Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland. This is the first time the Czech Republic won the title of Miss World, and its first crown in the Big Four international beauty pageants. A total of 104 countries competed in the pageant. Taťána Kuchařová
Taťána Kuchařová, formerly Taťána Gregor Brzobohatá (; born 23 December 1987) is a Czech model and beauty queen who won the title of Miss Czech Republic and Miss World 2006. In doing so, she made history to become the first woman from the Czech Republic ever to win the title at the final event of the Miss World competition, held on 30 September 2006, in Warsaw, Poland. She finished in second place in '' StarDance'', the Czech version of Dancing with the Stars, in 2013. Biography Kuchařová was born on 23 December 1987 in Czechoslovakia. Her hometown is Trnava, nowadays located in Slovakia. She lives in Opočno, a small town in the north of the Czech Republic. In 2006, aged 18, whilst studying at a grammar school, Kuchařová competed in the Czech Miss 2006 competition, and won it. Miss France is a national beauty pageant in France held annually in December. The competition was first held in 1920, and has been organized continuously since 1947. Julia Evelyn Morley (née Pritchard; born 25 October 1939) is an English businesswoman, charity worker and former model. She is the chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, which organizes the Miss World and Mister World pageants. She is the widow of Miss World creator, the late Eric Morley who organized the pageant from its inception in July 1951, until his death in 2000. Life and career Born in London, she worked as a model, and met Eric Morley, then a director of Mecca Dancing, at a dance hall in Leeds; the couple married in 1960. She became chairman of Miss World after her husband died in 2000.
