Miss Universe 1994
Miss Universe 1994 was the 43rd Miss Universe pageant, held on 21 May 1994 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, Philippines. Seventy-seven contestants competed during this year. Outgoing titleholder Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico crowned Sushmita Sen of India at the end of the event, marking the first time India has won Miss Universe, which they would later win again in 2000 and in 2021. Background Location and date Manila was announced as host city for the pageant in October 1993. It was the second time the pageant was held in the Philippines, after it was staged at the nearby Folk Arts Theater in 1974. Sushmita Sen
Sushmita Sen (; born 19 November 1975) is an Indian actress and beauty pageant titleholder, who was crowned Miss Universe 1994, becoming the first Indian people, Indian woman to win the title. Sen has since predominantly worked in Hindi films, and is a recipient of a Filmfare Awards, Filmfare Award and a Filmfare OTT Awards, Filmfare OTT Award. Sen made her acting debut playing a fictionalised version of herself in the thriller ''Dastak (1996 film), Dastak'' (1996). She won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as the girlfriend of a married man in the comedy film ''Biwi No.1'' (1999), and was also nominated in the category for her roles in the dramas ''Sirf Tum'' (1999) and ''Filhaal...'' Miss Universe 1995 was the 44th Miss Universe pageant, held on 12 May 1995 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Namibia. The Tanghalang Francisco Balagtas (), formerly known as the Folk Arts Theater, was a theater located in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Malate, Manila. It is a covered proscenium amphitheater owned by the Cultural Center of the Philippines that was a popular venue for concerts during the 1980s and 1990s. The theater, named after Filipino poet Francisco Balagtas, has a seating capacity of 8,458 in 10 sections and features a broad fascia with a single column-to-column span of . Miss Universe 2021 was the 70th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel on 13 December 2021. At the end of the event, Harnaaz Sandhu of India was crowned Miss Universe 2021 by Andrea Meza of Mexico. It was India's first victory in twenty-one years, and the third in the country's in the pageant history. Sandhu became the first ever Sikh to win the title. Miss Universe 2000 was the 49th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Eleftheria Indoor Hall in Nicosia, Cyprus on 12 May 2000.
