Miss Northern Ireland
Miss Northern Ireland is a national beauty pageant in Northern Ireland, run by Alison Clarke. History Before 1999, the winner of Miss Northern Ireland would have to compete in the Miss United Kingdom competition and win it in order to be applicable to compete in the Miss World competition. Since then however, the winner of each nation of the UK sends separate representatives to the Miss World pageant, the highest ranking of the four delegates is then named Miss United Kingdom, and competes at the Miss International Pageant the following year under the "Britain" or "United Kingdom" banner. Cookstown (, ) is a town in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is the fourth-largest town in the county and had a population of 12,546 in the 2021 census. It, along with Magherafelt and Dungannon, is one of the main towns in the Mid-Ulster council area. Miss World 2015 was the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, Hainan, China, on 19 December 2015. Rolene Strauss of South Africa crowned Mireia Lalaguna of Spain as her successor at the end of the event. It was the first time in the history of Miss World that Spain won the pageant. Gilford, County Down
Gilford is a village in County Down, Northern Ireland. The village sits on the River Bann between the towns of Banbridge, Tandragee and Portadown. It covers the townlands of Loughans, Ballymacanallen and Drumaran. It had a population of 1,933 people in the 2011 census. Gilford is within the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon district. History Following the Irish Rebellion of 1641, Captain John Magill acquired land in the parish of Tullylish and founded Gilford, the name of the village being derived from "Magill’s ford". He afterwards became Sir John Magill and built Gill Hall in Dromore, County Down. The Magill lands passed by marriage to the Meade family, who were made Barons Gillford in 1766 and later earls of Clanwilliam. Miss World 2016 was the 66th edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, United States, on 18 December 2016. Stoneyford (also known as Stonyford) is a small village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is between Glenavy and Milltown, about 5 miles (8 km) north of Lisburn.
