Miss International 1976, the 16th Miss International pageant, was held on July 2, 1976 at the Imperial Garden Theater in Tokyo, Japan. Lidija Manić of Yugoslavia crowned her successor Sophie Perin of France. This is France's first ever Miss International crown. Sophie Sonia Perin (born 1957) is a French model and beauty queen who was the first Miss International winner from her country. Retrieved on 11 April 2008. Nafisa Ali (born 18 January 1957) is an Indian actress and politician from All India Trinamool Congress and a social activist. Early life Nafisa Ali was born in Kolkata, the daughter of Ahmed Ali, a Bengali Muslim man and Philomena Torresan, a Roman Catholic woman of Anglo-Indian heritage. Nafisa's paternal grandfather, S. Lidija Vera Manić is a Serbian model and beauty queen who became the first woman from Serbia to win a major international title after being crowned Miss International 1975 in Motobu, Japan. Miss International (''Miss International Beauty'' or ''The International Beauty Pageant'') is a Japan-based international beauty pageant organized by the International Culture Association.
