Miss Earth 2006
Miss Earth 2006 was the sixth edition of the Miss Earth pageant, held at the grounds of the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila, Philippines, on 26 November 2006. At the end of the event, Alexandra Braun of Venezuela crowned Hil Hernández of Chile as Miss Earth 2006. It is the first victory of Chile at the pageant. Contestants from 82 countries and territories competed in this year's pageant, an increase from the 80 contestants in 2005. The pageant was hosted by Ariel Ureta, Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles, and Miss Philippines-Air 2006 Ginger Conejero. Filipino singer and actor Christian Bautista performed at the pageant. Hil Yesenia Hernández Escobar (born 1 December 1984) is a Chilean people, Chilean journalist, model, environmentalist and beauty queen who won Miss Earth 2006 pageant becoming the first Chilean people, Chilean to win the coveted crown. Personal life Hernández was born in Castro, Chile on 1 December 1984. She spent her childhood years in the Chiloé Island, the second-largest island in South America. Miss Earth 2004 was the fourth edition of the Miss Earth pageant, held at the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines, on October 24, 2004. Dania Prince of Honduras crowned Priscilla Meirelles of Brazil as her successor at the end of the event, and with her win, Brazil became the first country to win all of the Big Four beauty pageants. Francys Sudnicka (born 9 December 1979 in Valencia, Venezuela) is a Polish-Venezuelan model and beauty pageant titleholder. Miss USA 2006 was the 55th Miss USA pageant, held at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland on April 21, 2006. Fifty-one state titleholders competed for the title, which was won by Tara Conner of Miss Kentucky USA, Kentucky. Conner was crowned by outgoing titleholder Chelsea Cooley of Miss North Carolina USA, North Carolina.
