Miss America 2025
Miss America 2025 was the 97th edition of the Miss America pageant, held inside the Walt Disney Theater, located at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Florida, alongside the Miss America's Teen 2025 competition on January 4 and 5, 2025 respectively. Madison Marsh of Colorado crowned Abbie Stockard of Alabama as her successor at the end of the event. Background New eligibility rules allow transgender entrant who have fully completed " sexual reassignment surgery" a year prior to competing. Other usual rules apply to the 2025 part of the Miss America Pageants. Ballroom dancing and cheerleading utilizing "human props" has been added as potential talents. The partner must be dressed in all black and cannot perform any solo parts. The Miss Puerto Rico pageant has also been reinstated after last competing in 2017. Abbie Stockard
Abbie Stockard (born July 26, 2002) is an American beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss America 2025. Stockard was previously crowned Miss Alabama 2024, making her the fourth woman from Alabama to be crowned Miss America. Early life and education Stockard was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents Brad and Kim Stockard, and has two siblings, twin brother Bradley and younger sister Lilly. Stockard attended Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, graduating in 2021. Prior to winning Miss America, Stockard was a senior at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, as a nursing major, a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, and a former member of the Tiger Paws dance team. She is planning to obtain a doctorate in nurse anesthesia, and specialize in pediatric medicine. Miss Tennessee
The Miss Tennessee competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Tennessee in the Miss America Scholarship Competition. Carley Jaymes Vogel of Murfreesboro was crowned Miss Tennessee 2024 on June 22, 2024, at the Martin Center for the Arts in Johnson City, Tennessee. She competed for Miss America in January 2025. She was a preliminary talent winner and was 2nd Runner-Up to Miss America. History The Miss Tennessee pageant was first held in 1938, although the winner, Isobel Carter, was unable to compete at Miss America due to illness and so the 1st runner-up became Miss Tennessee. The Miss Maryland competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Maryland in the Miss America pageant. Bridget O'Brien of Frederick was crowned Miss Maryland 2024 in June 2024 at Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown, Maryland. Miss Alabama
The Miss Alabama competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Alabama in the annual Miss America Competition. Alabama has won four Miss America titles: Abbie Stockard in 2025, Deidre Downs in 2005, Heather Whitestone (the first deaf woman to win the Miss America crown) in 1995, and Yolande Betbeze in 1951. Miss New Hampshire
The Miss New Hampshire is the scholarship program that selects the representative for the state of New Hampshire in the Miss America competition. The Miss New Hampshire program was conducted by the '' Union Leader'' newspaper for more than 50 years. In the early years of Miss America, it was city newspapers that sponsored the young women to go to Atlantic City as the Miss America Organization originally allowed city titleholders to compete. The ''Union Leader'' conducted the pageant from 1947 until 2001. The newspaper held the pageant from at least 1985 to 2001 at the Manchester Central High School auditorium. In 2000, a non-profit corporation formed and was granted the license by the Miss America Organization to conduct the state program from 2002 through today. The Miss Colorado competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Colorado in the Miss America pageant. The Colorado representative has won the Miss America crown on four occasions. Miss South Carolina
The Miss South Carolina competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of South Carolina in the Miss America pageant. The pageant was first held in Myrtle Beach and moved to Greenville starting in 1958 and remained in that city until the 1990s. Spartanburg hosted the pageant in a few different venues until new leadership took over the organization and moved the pageant to Columbia, SC in 2011. The pageant was televised since the 1960s until the 1998 pageant. Televising was resumed with the 2000 pageant through 2006. The pageant returned to television in 2014. The Miss Ohio Scholarship Program selects the representative for the U.S. state of Ohio to compete for the title of Miss America. Miss Wisconsin
The Miss Wisconsin competition is the pageant, held annually in Oshkosh, that selects the representative for the U.S. state of Wisconsin in the annual Miss America pageant. Wisconsin has won the Miss America crown three times (1973, 2012, and 2023). Montello native Mandi Jo Genord, 22, now of Beaver Dam was crowned Miss Wisconsin 2024 on June 22, 2024, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Miss Texas
The Miss Texas competition was founded in 1937 as a scholarship contest for young women. The winner represents Texas in the Miss America pageant; three winners have gone on to be crowned Miss America (but none since 1975). To become Miss Texas, a contestant must first win a local competition. A young woman may compete at the local and state level more than once, but may only compete in the national Miss America competition one time.
