Mismated
''Mismated'' is a 1916 silent two-reel romantic drama film starring Reina Valdez from Mutual. The film was directed by Frank Beal. Plot After Flo (Valdez) is forced to marry a man she hates, she continues to dream about her true love. Living in a small fishing town, she eventually takes the lead role in a local play with a plot that is similar with that of her own life. One day, she finds out that her true love is wrecked at sea, and she begs her husband to go look for him. During the rescue attempt, Flo's true love is saved, although her husband perishes, but not before asking for Flo's forgiveness. Reina Valdez
Reina Valdez (sometimes credited as Rena Valdez; born December 1890) was a silent film actress active in Hollywood in the 1910s. Although some publicity reports claimed she was born in and raised in Mexico, she was a native of Springfield, Massachusetts, where she grew up before she moved to New York City to pursue an interest in acting. After a few appearances on Broadway, eventually she found herself in Los Angeles, where she worked for a number of film companies over the course of her short career, including the Santa Barbara Motion Picture Company, the New York Motion Picture Company, and Essanay. Little is known about her life before or after her film career. It is likely that "Reina Valdez" was her stage name. Frank Beal
Frank Beal (September 11, 1862 – December 20, 1934) was an American actor and film director of the silent film era. Biography Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1862, Beal began acting in 1880 and gained fame as a director and an actor. In 1908, he moved from stage to film, with the Selig Polyscope Company. He appeared in 42 films between 1910 and 1933, and also directed 41 films between 1910 and 1921. Beal was married to actress Louise Lester and was the father of actress Dolly Beal and actor Scott Beal. He died in Hollywood, California, in 1934. His obituary in the ''Los Angeles Times'' called him "one of the first prominent figures of the theatrical industry to desert it and go into motion pictures".
