Mirsarai Economic Zone is an industrial economic zone currently under development in Mirsarai Upazila, Chittagong on the bank of Sandwip channel. Mirsharai Upazila
Mirsharai Upazila ( bn, মীরসরাই) is an upazila of Chattogram District in Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. It consists 2 Thanas and 2 Pauroshavas. The two Thanas are Jorargonj Thana and Mirsharai Thana and, the two Pauroshavas are Baraiyarhat and Mirsharai. History Sultan Fakhruddin Mobarak Shah conquered Chittagong in 1340 AD and established the Muslim rule in this region. During the reign of Gaur Sultans Hussain Shah and Nusrat Shah, Paragal Khan and Chhuti Khan were the rulers of this area. Subsequently, Nizam Shah, brother of emperor Sher Shah, was the ruler of this area. Nizampur Pargana is named after Nizam Shah and the whole area of Mirsharai came under the control of Nizampur pargana. Chittagong District
Chittagong District, renamed the Chattogram District, is a district located in the south-eastern region of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chattogram Division. The port city of Chattogram, which is the second largest city in Bangladesh, is located within this district. History Because of the natural harbour, Chattogram had been an important location for trade, drawing Arab traders as early as the 9th century CE. Sandwip
Sandwip ( bn, সন্দ্বীপ, Shondip) is an island located along the southeastern coast of Bangladesh in the Chattogram District. Along with the island of Urir Char, it is a part of the Sandwip Upazila. Description Sandwip is located in the north-east of the Bay of Bengal, near the port city of Chittagong. It is close to the mouth of the Meghna River in the Bay of Bengal and is separated from the Chittagong coast by Sandwip Channel. It has a population of nearly 700,000. There are fifteen wards, 62 ''mahallas'' and 34 villages on Sandwip Island. The island is long and wide. The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority or BEZA () is an agency of the government of Bangladesh to govern special economic zones within the country's territory. It was instituted by the government in November 2010 under Bangladesh Economic Zones Act, 2010. The organisation is responsible for establishing and managing of SEZs of Bangladesh.
