Mirpur Stadium
The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS; ), also called Mirpur Stadium, is an International cricket ground at Mirpur, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Located 10 kilometres from Mirpur city centre, the ground holds approximately 25,000 people and is named after the Bengali statesman A. K. Fazlul Huq, who was accorded the title ''Sher-e-Bangla'' ("Tiger of Bengal"). History The ground was originally constructed for football in the late 1980s and first hosted matches at the 1987 Asian Club Championship and 1988–89 Asian Club Championship. The venue was taken over by the Bangladesh Cricket Board in 2004, replacing the Bangabandhu National Stadium as the home of both the men's and women's national teams. Mirpur Model Thana
Mirpur () is a thana of Dhaka city, Bangladesh. It is bounded by Pallabi Thana to the north, Mohammadpur Thana to the south, Kafrul to the east, and Savar Upazila to the west. For administrative convenience three new thanas, namely Shah Ali, Pallabi Thana and Kafrul Thana have been carved out of old Mirpur Thana. History Mirpur Thana was established in 1962. The thana consists of one ''union parishad'', eight wards, 11 mouzas and 86 and 20 villages. Mirpur Thana (town) area was included in Keraniganj Thana during the British period (1757–1947) and in Tejgaon Thana during the Pakistan period (1947–1971). 2012 Asia Cup
The 2012 Asia Cup (also called Micromax Asia Cup) was an international cricket tournament held in Bangladesh from 11 to 22 March 2012. Like the previous event, the tournament featured the four Test-playing nations from Asia: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. India entered the tournament as the defending 2010 Asia Cup. Pakistan won the tournament by beating Bangladesh in the final by 2 runs. Background China was interested in hosting the Asia Cup at Guangzhou but the Asian Cricket Council decided that Bangladesh will host the event. It was the third time Bangladesh hosted the event after 1988 and 2000. The event was supposed to be held between 1 and 11 March 2012, but was rescheduled to avoid a clash of dates with the ODI tri-series in Australia that also included Sri Lanka and India, which ended on 8 March. English Cricket Team In Bangladesh In 2022–23
The England cricket team toured Bangladesh in March 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. It was the first bilateral T20I series between the two teams, and England's first tour of Bangladesh since 2016. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in September and October 2021, with the T20I matches having been used as preparation for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. However, in August 2021, the tour was postponed due to fixture congestion and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 2017–18 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series
The 2017–18 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that took place in January 2018. It was a tri-nation series between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, with all the matches played as One Day Internationals (ODIs). The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium hosted all the matches. The second ODI was the 100th to be played at the venue and in the third match, Bangladesh recorded their biggest win in ODIs, beating Sri Lanka by 163 runs. The final was played between hosts Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the match by 79 runs, with Sri Lankan bowler Shehan Madushanka taking a hat-trick on debut. 2014 ICC Women's World Twenty20
The 2014 Women's World Twenty20 was the fourth Women's World Twenty20 competition, taking place in Bangladesh from 23 March to 6 April 2014. The tournament was played in the cities of Sylhet and Dhaka – Cox's Bazar was originally intended to also host matches, but the venue was not available due to ongoing development. The tournament featured 10 teams, rather than the eight at previous tournaments, with all matches in the tournament accorded women's Twenty20 International (T20I) status. Bangladesh and Ireland made their first appearances at the event, which was run concurrently with the men's tournament. Australia won the tournament, beating England in the final by six wickets. The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 was the fifth edition of the Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20, an international Twenty20 cricket tournament, that took place in Bangladesh from 16 March to 6 April 2014.
