Miranda Rosin (born ) is a Canadian politician in Alberta representing the electoral district of Banff-Kananaskis for the United Conservative Party. Political career Rosin was named the UCP's candidate for Banff-Kananaskis on November 1, 2018. She defeated two other challengers for the spot. During her nomination race, she was endorsed by UCP MLAs Leela Aheer, Drew Barnes and Angela Pitt; Conservative MP for Banff-Airdrie Blake Richards; and Canmore town councillor Rob Seeley. In October 2018, Rosin said at a UCP nomination debate that Alberta needs "to look at a two-tiered system, so that we can get those who have worked hard for their money out of the system if they would like to.” The audio of the exchange was released by Cam Westhead, who at the time was the NDP MLA for Banff-Cochrane, in March 2019. 2022 United Conservative Party Leadership Election
The 2022 United Conservative Party leadership election was held on October 6, 2022, in Alberta to select a new leader of the United Conservative Party and Premier of Alberta. The leadership election was triggered following the May 18, 2022, leadership review in which the United Conservative Party membership voted 51.4 per cent in support of incumbent Premier Jason Kenney's leadership. In Kenney's speech following the announcement of the results, Kenney issued his resignation as leader of the United Conservative Party. Nominations for leadership of the United Conservative Party closed on July 20, 2022, with seven candidates meeting the nomination criteria. Equalization Payments In Canada
In Canada, the federal government makes equalization payments to provincial governments to help address fiscal disparities among Canadian provinces based on estimates of provinces' ''fiscal capacity''—their ability to generate tax revenues. A province that does not receive equalization payments is often referred to as a "have province", while one that does is called a "have not province". In 2023-24, all provinces and territories will receive $94.6 billion in major federal transfers, including $23.96 billion in equalization payments in 6 provinces. Donna Marie Kennedy-Glans (born May 5, 1960) is a Canadian politician who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Calgary-Varsity from April 2012 to May 2015. Ernest Preston Manning (born June 10, 1942) is a Canadian retired politician. Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. The district is one of 87 districts mandated to return a single member (MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. The district had in recent years been favourable to the election of Progressive Conservative candidates, a trend broken when Tany Yao won it for the Wildrose.
