Mir Quasem Mondal
Mir Quasem Mondal was an Indian politician from West Bengal, who served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Chapra constituency in Nadia district for three consecutive terms from 1987 to 1996. Representing the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM), he spent 15 years contributing to the development of the Chapra constituency. Early life and education Mir Quasem Mondal was born in 1931. Nadia () is a district in the state of West Bengal, India. It borders Bangladesh to the east, North 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts to the south, Purba Bardhaman to the west, and Murshidabad to the north. Nadia district is highly influential in the cultural history of Bengal. The standard version of Bengali, developed in the 19th century, is based on the dialect spoken around Shantipur region of Nadia. Chapra is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Krishnanagar Sadar subdivision of Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Geography Located at , Chapra CD Block is bounded by Tehatta I CD Block in the north, Damurhuda Upazila in Chuadanga District of Bangladesh in the east, Krishnaganj and Krishnanagar I CD Blocks, in the south and Krishnanagar II and Nakashipara CD Blocks in the west. The Communist Party of India (CPI) is a political party in India. The CPI considers the December 26, 1925 Cawnpore (Kanpur) conference as its foundation date. Between 1946 and 1951, the CPI led militant struggles such as the peasant revolt in Telangana, organising guerrilla warfare against feudal lords. The CPI was the main opposition party in India during the 1950s to 1960s. In 1964, a split in the CPI led to the formation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which eventually emerged as the larger of the two parties. CPI supported the rule of Indira Gandhi, but later changed course and embraced left unity.
