Mir Bacha Kot
Mir Bacha Kot is a village and a market in the center of Mir Bacha Kot District, Kabul Province, Afghanistan. It is located at at 1,690 m altitude, 25 km north of Kabul. The village infrastructure was destroyed during the war. The name “Mir Bacha Kot” was given after the well known Sadat “Ghazi Mir Bacha Khan Kohdamani” a well known military commander who led the Tajiks of Shamali (North of Kabul) against the British in the second Anglo-Afghan war. Since Ghazi Mir Bacha Khan Kohdamani is the most important historical figure from Saraai Khwaja(old name of Mir Bacha Kot District), The people of this district decided to rename the district to “Mir Bacha Kot”. Kabul Province
Kabul (Dari/Pashto: ), situated in the east of the country, is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. The capital of the province is Kabul city, which is Afghanistan's capital and largest city. Mir Bacha Kot District
Mir Bacha Kot District is situated in the central part of Kabul Province, Afghanistan. Its population was estimated at 5,000 in the year 2002 and another 37,000 displaced persons were expected to return in the near future (2002 official UNHCR est.). Tajiks are the majority and some Pashtuns also live there. Mir Bacha Kot district borders Shakardara District to the west, Guldara and Kalakan districts to the north, and Deh Sabz District to the east. Mir Bacha Khan
Ghazi Mir Bacha Khān Kohdāmani () originally known as Mir Bahāuddin was one of the most well known Tajik chiefs during the Second Anglo-Afghan war. He led the Tajiks of Shamali against the British in the Second Anglo-Afghan War. He was the son of Mir Darwish khan, another ethnic Tajik chief who claimed Sayyid ancestry, who also fought against the British in the First Anglo-Afghan War. Background Mir Bahauddin was born into a religious Tajik family in northern Kabul. Like many in the area, his forefathers came from Shamali, notably Mir Bacha Kot. He was the youngest among his 9 brothers. Mir Bacha Khan completed primary education to the degree that necessary at the time.
