Mir Afzal Khan
Mir Afzal Khan (born 1923) is a Pakistani politician from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. He served as the 16th Chief Minister of the province from 7 August, 1990 to 19 July 1993. Early life Afzal Khan was born to a wealthy family of landlords in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the home of Sarfaraz Khan, who was well known politician from Mardan in then NWFP now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was the brother of Begum Zari Sarfaraz, who was a politician and social worker. Mardan
Mardān (Pashto and ; Urdu ; Pashto: ) is a city in the Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. Located in the Valley of Peshawar, Mardan is the second-largest city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (after Peshawar). It is a fast-growing city that experienced a population boom in the latter half of the twentieth century. Around 1800 BCE, the area around Mardan was part of the homeland of the Gandhara grave culture. Rock edicts of the List of Indian monarchs, ancient Indian King Ashoka in the nearby Shahbaz Garhi, written in the right-to-left Kharosthi script, date from the Mauryan Empire, Mauryan period (mid-200s BCE) and represent the earliest irrefutable evidence of writing in South Asia. Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao (آفتاب احمد خان شېرپاؤ; born 20 August 1944) is a Pakistani politician who is the current chairman of the centre-left Pashtun nationalist Qaumi Watan Party, after previously being a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party. Begum Zari Sarfaraz (28 July 1923 – 27 April 2008) was a noted early political activist and committed social worker of North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Pakistan. Early life and family Zari Sarfaraz was born in 1923, to a wealthy Pashtun family of Mardan, in the North West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in present-day Pakistan) of British India. Her father was Sarfaraz Khan, a wealthy landlord of the area.
