Miquel Mayol i Raynal (born 11 August 1941) is a Spanish politician of French nationality who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2001 to 2004 in Spanish lists. Biography Born in Perpignan, he taught law and was a founder of Catalan Workers' Left,. He later joined the Republican Left of Catalonia and was the secretary of their North Catalonia division. In June 2001 he became a RLC member of the European Parliament in the Greens–European Free Alliance. He sat in the European Parliament until July 2004. Perpignan
Perpignan (, , ; ca, Perpinyà ; es, Perpiñán ; it, Perpignano ) is the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France, in the heart of the plain of Roussillon, at the foot of the Pyrenees a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea and the scrublands of the Corbières massif. It is the centre of the Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole metropolitan area. Catalan Workers' Left (in Catalan: ''Esquerra Catalana dels Treballadors'') was a political party in Northern Catalonia, France. ECT was formed in 1972, with its main base in Perpignan. Carme Forcadell I Lluís
Maria Carme Forcadell i Lluís (born 29 May 1955) is a Spanish politician from Catalonia. She is the former President of the Parliament of Catalonia, as well as a Catalan high school teacher, known for her Catalan independence activism. She was one of the founders of Plataforma per la Llengua, a member of the executive board of the Sabadell branch of Òmnium Cultural, and president of the Catalan National Assembly from its inception until May 2015. In 2015, she won a seat in the Catalan parliament as part of the Junts pel Sí coalition. Subsequently, in October 2015 she was elected President of the Parliament of Catalonia, a position she held until January 2018. Since March 2018 until June 2021, she was jailed, accused of rebellion.
