Crab
Crabs are decapod crustaceans of the infraorder Brachyura (meaning "short tailed" in Greek language, Greek), which typically have a very short projecting tail-like abdomen#Arthropoda, abdomen, usually hidden entirely under the Thorax (arthropod anatomy), thorax. Their exoskeleton is often Sclerotization, thickened and hard. They generally have Arthropod leg, five pairs of legs, and they have "Pincers (tool), pincers" or "claws" on the ends of the frontmost pair, scientifically termed the ''chelae''. They are present in all the world's oceans, Freshwater crab, in freshwater, and Terrestrial crab, on land, often hiding themselves in small crevices or burrowing into sediment. Crabs are omnivores, feeding on a variety of food, including a significant proportion of Algae eater, algae, as well as Detritivore, detritus and other invertebrates. Crab meat, Crabs are widely consumed by humans as food, with over 1.5 million tonnes Crab fisheries, caught annually. True crabs first appeared ... Minuca Pugnax
''Minuca pugnax'', commonly known as the Atlantic marsh fiddler crab, is a species of fiddler crab that lives on north-western shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Distribution ''Minuca pugnax'' is the most common species of fiddler crab on the east coast of the United States. Its natural range extends from Cape Cod to northern Florida. In 2014, its northern limit was extended to Hampton, New Hampshire, as a result of a range expansion possibly due to climate change. Prior to the 2000s, studies suggested that its habitat range was limited to low-marsh habitats such as creeks, bay fronts, and mosquito ditches that are regularly flooded by the tide; the number of crabs decreased substantially in high-marsh habitats. Reports also indicated that ''Minuca pugnax'' would burrow during high tide and not reemerge until the tide had receded. The habitat was therefore restricted to areas where burrows were available to occupy and could be constructed. However reports in the 2010s began noting high ... Ocypodidae
The Ocypodidae is a family of semiterrestrial crabs that includes ghost crabs and fiddler crabs. These crabs are found along tropical and temperate shorelines worldwide. Some genera previously classified within the Ocypodidae family have been reclassified into separate families within the superfamily Ocypoidea, such as Dotillidae and Macrophthalmidae. In 2016, the genus Uca was divided into 13 genera through the elevation of its subgenera to genus status, among other taxonomic changes. Further refinements have been made to the family's organization, resulting in 4 subfamilies, approximately 13 extant genera, and around 180 described species as of 2020. The majority of the Ocypodidae species are fiddler crabs, the exceptions being the members of the genus '' Ocypode'', ghost crabs, and the genus '' Ucides'', mangrove crabs. Genera These genera belong to the family Ocypodidae: * '' Afruca'' Crane, 1975 * '' Austruca'' Bott, 1973 * '' Cranuca'' Beinlich & von Hagen, 2006 * '' G ...
