MinnesotaCare
MinnesotaCare is a public health insurance program in the United States, U.S. state of Minnesota for low-income individuals and families who lack employee-sponsored health insurance and who do not qualify for Medical Assistance (Minnesota’s Medicaid program). It is administered by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Enrollees pay a monthly fee based on income and family size, among other factors. As of 2024, roughly 100,000 Minnesotans are enrolled in MinnesotaCare. History MinnesotaCare was established in 1992 by Republican Governor Arne Carlson with bipartisan legislative support. The founding legislation pledged that the state would help pay for medical care for residents up to 200% of the Poverty in the United States, federal poverty level. The Ninety-fourth Minnesota Legislature is the current meeting of the legislative branch of the state of Minnesota, composed of the Minnesota Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives. Ann H. Rest (born April 24, 1942) is an American politician and President pro tempore of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), she represents District 43 which includes portions of the western suburbs of Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metro area.
