Minlaton
Minlaton is a town in central Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. It is known as the "Barley capital of the world", due to the rich Barley production in the region. Minlaton was the hometown of Harry Butler, a World War I flying ace. His Bristol M1C monoplane has been restored and is preserved in pride of place in a building the centre of the town. When he flew an air mail run from Adelaide across Gulf St Vincent to Minlaton in 1919, it was the first over-water flight in the Southern Hemisphere. Minlaton is in the District Council of Yorke Peninsula, the federal Division of Grey and the state electoral district of Narungga. Climate Minlaton, like most of the Yorke Peninsula, has a dry mediterranean climate bordering on semi-arid. Annual rainfall is around , most of which falls in the winter months. Harry Butler (aviator)
Henry John 'Harry' Butler AFC (9 November 1889 – 30 July 1924) was a pioneer Australian aviator, Captain and Chief Fight Instructor in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. Parsons Beach, South Australia

Curramulka, South Australia
Curramulka, nicknamed "Curry", is a town in the Australian state of South Australia on the Yorke Peninsula. Curramulka is within easy driving distance of the coastal resort towns of Port Victoria and Port Vincent and is north-east of Minlaton. There are caves nearby. History The Hundred of Curramulka was surveyed in 1874. The name is derived from the Aboriginal words ''curre'' (emu) and ''mulka'' (deep water hole), referring to the nearby caves. Farming land was first opened up in the mid-1870s, and Curramulka flourished the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Port Julia was used to ship produce from the town. The Curramulka Institute, a mechanics' institute, was built in 1885. Additions were built in 1906, 1922, and 1939, and in 1934 the building was transferred to the local council. The Yorke Peninsula, known as Guuranda by the original inhabitants, the Narungga people, is a peninsula located northwest and west of Adelaide in South Australia, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east. Maitland () is a town on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. By road, it is west of Adelaide, south of Port Pirie and north of Minlaton. The town lies in the traditional lands of the Narungga, whose name for the district is Maggiwarda.
