Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Of Ethiopia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs () is the Ethiopian government ministry which oversees the foreign relations of Ethiopia. The current ministry was established 23 August 1995 with the passing of Proclamation 4-1995, which also established the other 14 original ministries. The current minister of foreign affairs is Gedion Timotheos since 18 October 2024. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for conducting the country's foreign policy and managing its diplomatic relations with other nations and international organizations. Historically, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has existed since the imperial era, but its organizational structure and functions have evolved over time. During the imperial period, the ministry coordinated Ethiopia's foreign relations under the emperor's direct supervision. The government of Ethiopia () is the federal government of Ethiopia. It is structured in a framework of a federal republic, federal parliamentary system, parliamentary republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, prime minister is the head of government. Executive power is exercised by the government. The prime minister is chosen by the House of Peoples' Representatives, lower chamber of the Federal Parliamentary Assembly. Federal legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of parliament. The Judiciary of Ethiopia, judiciary is more or less independent of the executive and the legislature. Tesfaye Dinka
Tesfaye Dinka Yadessa (; 3 November 1939 – 6 December 2016) was an Ethiopian politician who was Minister of Finance (1983–1986), Minister of Foreign Affairs (1989–1991), and Prime Minister (26 April–6 June 1991) of Ethiopia. He was the head of the delegation of the Ethiopian Government during the London Conference of 1991 which aimed to end the Ethiopian Civil War. Berhanu Bayeh
Berhanu Bayeh (; born October 5, 1935) is an Ethiopian former military officer and politician. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs during the Derg regime from 1986 to 1989. Prior to that, he was chairman of the Derg's committee for legal affairs. Berhanu was a refugee resident of the Italian Embassy from May 1991 until December 2020, when he left the embassy. Goshu Wolde (, born 1942) is a former Ethiopian Foreign Minister and worked as minister of education, of Ethiopia from 1983 to 1986. Kifle Wodajo (, 30 October 1936 – 28 April 2004) was an Ethiopian politician and diplomat who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia from 1974 to 1977. He was also the first Secretary-General of the Organization of African States from 25 May 1963 to 21 July 1964. ''Dejazmatch'' Zewde Gebre-Sellassie (; 12 October 1926 – 15 December 2008) was an Ethiopian nobleman, historian, and former deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia. He was born in the village of Galdu, in the subdistrict of Mecca, to the north-west of Addis Ababa where his father was relegated. Early life Zewde's father was ''Dejazmatch'' Gebre Selassie Baria Gabr (governor of Adwa) and his mother was ''Leult'' Wolete Israel Seyoum. Minasse Haile (, born 2 January 1930) is an Ethiopian diplomat and politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1971 to 1974. Biography He was born in Hararghe Province in 1930. He received his undergraduate education from the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 1946 to 1950.
