Berhanu Bayeh
Berhanu Bayeh (; born October 5, 1935) is an Ethiopian former military officer and politician. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs during the Derg regime from 1986 to 1989. Prior to that, he was chairman of the Derg's committee for legal affairs. Berhanu was a refugee resident of the Italian Embassy from May 1991 until December 2020, when he left the embassy. Biography Berhanu was born in Gojjam and was of Amhara descent. In 1959 he entered Harar Military Academy as a cadet, and upon graduation was posted to the airborne division in Nazret. Two years later he attended Haile Selassie University, where he studied law. In 1967 he became a lecturer at Harar Military Academy. He joined the Armed Forces Coordination Committee in 1974. As a captain, Berhanu joined the Derg as the representative of the Military Academy, where he became chairman of the legal committee, and was promoted to Major in April 1976. Addis Ababa University (; AAU) is a national university located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is the oldest university in Ethiopia. AAU has thirteen campuses. Tesfaye Gebre Kidan Geletu (, – 4 June 2004) was an Ethiopian military officer and politician who was the interim president of Ethiopia for one week in late May 1991. Biography An ethnic Amhara from the eastern province of Hararghe, Tesfaye took a one year teacher training course to become an elementary school teacher. After completing his training, he was assigned to Gamu-Gofa province. Because of little pay and bad living conditions, he left his teaching job to join the Ethiopian Army and later enrolled at the Holetta Military Academy.
