The Ministry of Strategic Affairs and Public Diplomacy (, ''HaMisrad LeNos'im Astrategi'im'') is an Israeli government ministry responsible for leading the campaign of expanding the Abraham Accords and the handling of ties on White House matters. The ministry’s former responsibility was leading a campaign against the BDS movement. History The Ministry was created in 2006 for Avigdor Lieberman, whose Yisrael Beiteinu party had just joined the governing coalition. Lieberman had demanded the Internal Security Minister post, but as he was under police investigation, and the post was already held by Avi Dichter, a new ministry was created for him, with the role of coordinating security, intelligence and diplomatic initiatives regarding Iran and other strategic threats. Michael Biton
Michael Mordecai Biton (, born 3 February 1970) is an Israeli politician. He formerly served as Minister of Strategic Affairs and as minister for civic issues within the Ministry of Defense. He was previously mayor of Yeruham between 2010 and 2018. Biography Biton was born in Yeruham to parents who had immigrated from Morocco. He gained a BA in behavioral studies and Hebrew literature from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and an MA in organizational leadership from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He also studied English at Yale University and worked as an au pair in the US. The thirty-fifth government of Israel (), or the Netanyahu–Gantz government, was the government of Israel which was sworn in on 17 May 2020 and dissolved on 13 June 2021. It was originally expected to be established following the April 2019 election, but after prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was unable to form a government, the Knesset dissolved itself, thereby setting up a snap election that took place on 17 September 2019. Blue and White (, ''Kahol Lavan'') was a centrist and liberal Zionist political alliance in Israel. It was established by the Israel Resilience Party, Yesh Atid and Telem to run in the April 2019 Knesset election, in hopes of defeating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Blue and White defined itself as a pluralistic alliance representing all citizens on the political and religious spectrums. The phrase "blue and white" refers to the colors of the Israeli flag, and is colloquially used to describe something as being typically Israeli. Following the March 2020 elections, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz was tasked with forming a new government after receiving endorsements from a majority of 61 MKs.
