The Ministry of European Integration () was a department of the Council of Ministers (Albania), Albanian Government, responsible for Accession of Albania to the European Union, integration of Albania into the European Union. On 13 September 2017, the ministry was dissolved and merged with the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (Albania), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. History On 2 October 1998, to meet the increased workload in the process of accession of Albania to the European Union and NATO, the Majko I Government appointed to the Council of Ministers Maqo Lakrori as Secretary of State for Euro-Atlantic Integration. Lakrori stayed in office until October 25, 1999. Majlinda Bregu (born 19 May 1974) is an Albanian politician and diplomat. She served as Minister of European Integration and Government Spokeswoman from 2007 to 2013 in the Berisha cabinet. A member of the Albanian Parliament from 2005 until 2017 representing Tirana County. She served as the Secretary-General of the Regional Cooperation Council between January 2019 and December 2024. Ermelinda Meksi is an Albanian politician, who held different positions in the Cabinet of Albania during the years 1997 to 2005. She is the first woman to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, the highest office held by a woman at the time in Albania. Biography Meksi graduated from the University of Tirana in 1979. The Council of Ministers () is the principal executive organ of the Albanian government. The Council is led by the Prime Minister of Albania and includes 17 other ministers, nominated by the Prime Minister and confirmed by the Parliament of Albania, Albanian parliament.
