René Merino Monroy
René Francis Merino Monroy (born 30 December 1963) is a Salvadoran Officer (armed forces), military officer who currently serves as the Minister of National Defense of El Salvador, Minister of National Defense. He was appointed to the position by President Nayib Bukele in June 2019, becoming the first officer from the Navy of El Salvador, Salvadoran Navy to serve as minister of defense. Merino entered the Captain General Gerardo Barrios Military School in 1986. He graduated in 1990 and was appointed to various administrative positions at the La Unión Naval Base and the Naval Force Headquarters. From 1995 to 2010, Merino transferred between various command positions and continued his military education both domestically and abroad. Eugenio Aguilar González (15 November 1804 – 23 April 1879) was a Salvadoran politician who served as president of El Salvador from 1846 to 1848. He also served as the mayor of San Salvador in 1839 and 1864, and the president of the Legislative Assembly in 1849. Early life Eugenio Aguilar González was born on 15 November 1804 in Santiago Nonualco, then a part of the Spanish colony of New Spain. His father was José Antonio Aguilar and his mother was Juana de González y Batres. Aguilar's father died before his birth. Carlos Basilio Ezeta y León (14 June 1852 – 21 March 1903) was President of El Salvador from 22 June 1890 to 9 June 1894, when he was overthrown in the Revolution of the 44. He was a military ruler.
