John Minihan (photographer)
John Minihan is an Irish photographer, born in Dublin in 1946 and raised in Athy, County Kildare. At the age of 12 he was brought to live in London, and went on to become an apprentice photographer with the ''Daily Mail''. At the age of 15 he won the ''Evening Standard'' amateur photography competition. At 21, he became the youngest staff photographer for the ''Evening Standard''. For thirty years he remained in London, returning every year to his hometown of Athy to record the people and their daily lives. The work of Minihan in Athy makes up a large part of his canon. Minihan began taking photos in Athy when he was 16. The photos are an attempt to document the lives of the ordinary people of the town in their day-to-day business and also in times of joy and sadness, notably during the wake of a woman called Katy Tyrrell. Michael A. "Mike" Minihan (born 1967) is a General (United States), general in the United States Air Force who has served as the commander of Air Mobility Command since October 5, 2021. Career Minihan was commissioned in 1990 through Air Force ROTC at Auburn University in Alabama, where he had earned a Bachelor of Science in economics the year prior. He began his service in the Air Force as a Lockheed C-130 Hercules pilot. From 2013 onwards, Minihan held multiple key roles in the Pacific. Jeremiah Francis Minihan (July 21, 1903 – August 14, 1973) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston from 1954 until his death in 1973. John Minihan (born 24 November 1957) is a former Irish politician who served as a member of Seanad Éireann for the Progressive Democrats. He had previously served in the Irish Defence Forces where he attained the rank of captain. He stood as Progressive Democrat candidate for the Cork South-Central constituency at the 2007 general election. Life before politics Born in County Cork, Ireland, Minihan entered Military College in November 1975 and was stationed in the Eastern Command section. Gary Minihan (born 24 January 1962) is an Australian retired sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. At the 1982 Commonwealth Games he won a bronze medal in 400 metres and a silver medal in 4 × 400 metres relay. He finished fourth with the Australian relay team at the Athletics at the 1984 Summer Olympics – Men's 4 × 400 metres relay, 1984 Summer Olympics.
