Mindaugas Karbauskis
Mindaugas Karbauskis (born 28 January 1972) is a Lithuanian theater director, since 2011 artistic director of Mayakovsky Theatre. Winner of the Golden Mask Award (2007, 2008, 2016). He resigned from the position of the artistic director on February 25, 2022. Biography Mindaugas Karbauskis was born on 28 January 1972 in Naisiai (Šiauliai District Municipality). His parents Cheslovas Karbauskis and Nijole Karbauskene. His elder brother Ramūnas Karbauskis, Ramunas is a well-known politician and philanthropist in Lithuania. He graduated from the theater department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2001 he graduated from the directing department of GITIS (workshop of Pyotr Fomenko). Mayakovsky Theatre
Mayakovsky Theater (russian: Театр Маяковского; Московский академический театр имени Вл. Маяковского) is a theater in Moscow, Russia, founded in 1920, first as ''Terevsat'' (Theater of Revolutionary Satire, 1920-1922), then ''Revolution Theater'' (1922-1943) and ''Drama Theater'' (1944-1953). In 1954 it was renamed after Vladimir Mayakovsky. History The theatre ''At Nikitsky'' (that's how it was known for a while) was built in 1886 by Konstantin Tersky specifically as a venue for famous foreign artists visiting Moscow. Golden Mask Award
The Golden Mask (russian: Золотая Маска, ''zolotaya maska'') is a Russian theatre festival and the National Theatre Award established in 1994 by the Theatre Union of Russia. The award is given to productions in all genres of theatre art: drama, opera, ballet, operetta and musical, and puppet theatre. It presents the most significant performances from all over Russia in Moscow in the spring of each year. The first Golden Mask award was given in 1995 presented by Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation. Ramūnas Karbauskis (born 5 December 1969) is a Lithuanian businessman and politician. Biography Education and business career Born on 5 December 1969 in Naisiai, Karbauskis graduated from Julius Janonis secondary school in Šiauliai in 1987. The same year, he enrolled into the Faculty of Agronomy at the Lithuanian Academy of Agriculture, graduating in 1992. As a youth, Karbauskis had an active interest in draughts (or checkers), becoming a candidate for Master (qualification degree) in International and Russian draughts. During 1987–1988 he was a member of Lithuanian Youth National Team of Russian draughts. In 1993, Karbauskis launched a company Agrokoncernas, acting as its CEO. Over the following two decades, Agrokoncernas grew to become one of the largest agricultural groups in Lithuania, employing more than 800 people. The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania, is a state-supported conservatory that trains students in music, theatre, and multimedia arts. History Composer Juozas Naujalis founded a music school in 1919 in Kaunas. This school was reorganised into the Kaunas Conservatory in 1933. In 1949 the ''Kaunas Conservatory'' and the ''Vilnius Conservatory'', founded in 1945, were merged into the ''Lithuanian State Conservatory''. The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) (russian: Российский институт театрального искусства – ГИТИС) is the largest and oldest independent theatrical arts school in Russia. Located in Moscow, the school was founded on 22 September 1878 as the Shostakovsky Music School.
