Mind Adventures
''Mind Adventures'' is the debut album by British soul singer-songwriter Des'ree. It was released on 17 February 1992 on the Sony Soho Square record label, and features the UK top 20 hit, "Feel So High". The album became Des'ree's first top 40 album, peaking at number 26 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was not released in the United States at the time. It got a belated release on 4 April 1995, after Des'ree's second album '' I Ain't Movin''' had been released there the previous year and she was achieving success with the single "You Gotta Be". Since "Feel So High" had been included on the US edition of ''I Ain't Movin, the US edition of ''Mind Adventures'' excluded it from its track list. Des'ree
Desirée Annette Weekes (born 30 November 1968), known by her stage name Des'ree (), is an English pop and soul recording artist and songwriter, who rose to prominence during the 1990s. Known for her distinctive contralto voice and uplifting lyrics, Des'ree's biggest hits include the singles " Feel So High", "You Gotta Be", and "Life", as well as the ballad " Kissing You", which featured on the soundtrack of the 1996 film ''Romeo + Juliet''. She was named Best British Female at the 1999 Brit Awards. Her other accolades include an Ivor Novello Award, a World Music Award, and four BMI Awards. S2 Records
Sony S2 Records, formerly named as S2 Records and Sony Soho Square (typeset as Sony Soho2), was a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (SME), which operated as a record label in the 1990s and early 2000s. Sony Soho Square was named after its location at London's Soho Square, with Lincoln Elias (who went on to become the Managing Director of Virgin Records in 2006 and now works with PMR Records) being the founder of the label. It was later headed by Muff Winwood, brother of musician Steve Winwood, who had worked at CBS Records/Sony Music Entertainment since the later 1970s. Gary Barnacle
Gary Barnacle (born 1959) is an English saxophonist, flautist, brass instrument arranger, composer, and producer. Barnacle is primarily noted for his session work and live work, including various Prince's Trust concerts at Wembley Arena, the Royal Albert Hall and the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. He performed at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute at Wembley Stadium in 1988, and appeared on television and in music videos during the 1980s and 1990s with many popular music acts. William Peter Wingfield (born 7 May 1948) is an English record producer, Keyboardist, keyboard player, songwriter, singer, and music journalism, music journalist. "You Gotta Be" is an R&B/ soul song by British singer and songwriter Des'ree, written by her with Ashley Ingram, who produced the song. It is the third track on the singer's second album, '' I Ain't Movin''' (1994), and the opening track on the US release of that album. The song was released as a single in March 1994, by Sony Soho Square, 550 and Epic, becoming a top-40 hit in several countries, and a top-10 hit in the United States and Australia. The accompanying music video was directed by Paul Boyd, depicting Des'ree performing in black-and-white. By 13 June 1998, the single had sold 358,000 copies in United States, and it has received sales certifications in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
