Early life Chowdhury was born to Khan Bahadur Abdur Rahim Choudhury and Zobeda Rahim Choudhury. She was married to the former chairman of Rajshahi Division Education Board, Shamsuzzaman Chowdhury. Career Zaman was elected to parliament from a reserved women's seat as a Jatiya Party candidate in 1986. She founded Jalalabad Hostoshilpo Shongstha, Monjuri Prokashoni, and Ladies' Association, Rajshahi. Death Zaman died on 22 February 2016. Jatiya Party (Ershad)
The Jatiya Party (, ; JaPa or JP(E)) is a political party of Bangladesh. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammed Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However, the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of opposition. History The party was established by military ruler, Hussain Muhammad Ershad on 1 January 1986. He was the Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army. He had seized power through a coup d'état on 24 March 1982. He ruled the country as its chief martial law administrator. The Jatiya Sangsad (), often simply referred to as Sangsad and also known as is the unicameral Legislature, legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Zobeda Rahim Chowdhury
Zobeda Khanom Chowdhury (; 1901–1986), also known as Zobeda Rahim Chowdhury (), was one among the leading woman who partook in the Bengali language movement from Sylhet and a pioneering women in Bangladeshi politics. Early life and education Zobeda Khanom was born in 1901, to a Bengali Muslim family in Jorhat, Assam. Her father was Khan Bahadur Sharafat Ali Choudhury and her mother was Nurjahan Begum. The family were originally from Shilghat, Golapganj in Sylhet, but Choudhury had moved to Assam for employment. Her education began in Dibrugarh, also in Assam, where her father was working at the time. She then enrolled at the Eden Mohila College in Dacca, where she became the college's first female Muslim student. In 1928, the Sylhet Muslim Students Conference was held, which was attended by the likes of Qazi Nazrul Islam, AK Fazlul Huq, and Muhammad Shahidullah.
