Min Nan Wikipedia
The Southern Min Wikipedia (), also known as Min Nan Wikipedia and ''Holopedia'' is the Southern Min edition of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It is the second largest Wikipedia in a Sinitic languages, Sinitic language, after Mandarin Chinese, Mandarin. Written in Pe̍h-ōe-jī, it mainly uses the Taiwanese Hokkien dialect. As of , it has 432,928 articles. History The Southern Min Wikipedia was founded as an independent project known as Holopedia (a reference to Hō-ló-oē, a colloquial name for the Southern Min dialect) by Wikipedians :zh-min-nan:User:Pektiong, Pektiong (Tân Pe̍k-tiong) and :zh-min-nan:User:Kaihsu, Kaihsu (Tè Khái-sū) in 2003. Following one year of development, Holopedia was moved from Holopedia.net to the Southern Min Wikipedia, creating a Wikipedia project for the language. The Chinese Wikipedia () is the written vernacular Chinese edition of Wikipedia. It was created on 11 May 2001. It is one of multiple projects supported by the Wikimedia Foundation. The Chinese Wikipedia currently has articles, registered users, and active editors, of whom have administrative privileges. The Chinese Wikipedia has been blocked in mainland China since May 2015. Nonetheless, the Chinese Wikipedia is still one of the top ten most active versions of Wikipedia by number of edits and number of editors, due to contributions from users from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Chinese diaspora.
