Mimico Monarchs
The Mimico Monarchs were a Junior ice hockey team based in the Mimico neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For some time, the team was known as the Richmond Hill Riot and played in Richmond Hill, Ontario. History The Monarchs were a part of the Central Junior B Hockey League. In 1989, they jumped to the Metro Junior "B" league and stayed with the league until one season after it became the Metro Junior A Hockey League. The Monarchs existed from 1983 until 1992. They moved to Richmond Hill to become the Richmond Hill Riot in 1992. The Riot folded in 1995. Vaughan Raiders
The St. Michael's Buzzers are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They compete in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). History The St. Michael's Buzzers date back to at least 1920, as future NHLer Bobby Bauer had made his home at St. Mikes for the 1930-31 season. The team was founded around 1932-33. The Buzzers won the first ever Sutherland Cup as All-Ontario Junior "B" Champions in 1934, and won it again in 1936, 1945, 1961, 1982, and 1989. They also won the Frank L. Buckland Trophy as OPJHL Champions in 2005, 2006 and 2013. The 1933-34 season saw them finish second in the Ontario Hockey Association Junior Hockey League behind their own parent club, the Toronto St. Michael's Majors. As "A" champions, the Majors went on to win the Memorial Cup, while the Buzzers went on to win the Sutherland Cup as Ontario "B" champions. The Toronto Jr. Canadiens are a Junior "A" ice hockey team based in the Downsview neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They were known as the Wexford Raiders until the end of the 2005–06 season and are a part of Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) but used to be a part of the Metro Junior A Hockey League. History The team originated in 1972 as the Wexford Warriors of the Metro Junior B league, when the original Wexford Raiders jumped to the Junior A Ontario Provincial League in 1972. When the Junior A Raiders folded in 1981, the Junior B Warriors adopted the Raider name and kept it until 2006. The Kingston Voyageurs were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. They were a part of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League. History The Voyageurs entered the Metro Junior B Hockey League in 1974. The Voyageurs filled the Junior "B" void left when the Kingston Frontenacs jumped from the Eastern Junior B Hockey League in 1972 to the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League and then the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League in 1973 as the Kingston Canadians. The North York Rangers are a Junior "A" ice hockey team located in the North York district of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the South Division of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and were previously a part of the Metro Junior A Hockey League. History The Metro Junior "B" level Woodbridge Rangers moved to North York in 1967, renaming the team the North York Rangers. They advanced to the "A" league until 1972, winning several league titles before folding in 1985. When the Richmond Hill Rams Metro Junior "A" team moved to North York in 1992, they brought back the North York Rangers name. Seven seasons later, the league folded, and the North York Rangers were brought into the OJHL, where they continue to play as of 2017. Mimico
Mimico (, ) is a neighbourhood (and a former municipality) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, being located in the south-west area of Toronto on Lake Ontario. It is in the south-east corner of the former Township (and later, City) of Etobicoke, and was an independent municipality from 1911 to 1967. Mimico, which was named after the passenger pigeon, is the oldest of the former Etobicoke#Neighborhoods, Lakeshore Municipalities. The Town of Mimico was established by a plan of sub-division in 1856, but was not sub-divided from the former Township of Etobicoke until 1911.
