Mimico GO Station
Mimico GO Station is a railway station in the GO Transit network located in the Etobicoke area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Lakeshore West line train service, serving the Mimico neighbourhood. The small station building is situated north of the tracks on the east side of Royal York Road. The building is connected by a tunnel under the tracks and stairs to the platforms, which are therefore not wheelchair accessible. There is an additional bypass track which runs between the platforms and another two tracks on the south side, which access the Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility. This station and Long Branch are the only two stations on the Lakeshore West line which are not fully accessible. Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility
The Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility is a GO Transit rolling stock maintenance facility located in the Willowbrook Yard in Toronto, Canada. The facility is west of Mimico station and is across the main tracks from the VIA Rail Toronto Maintenance Facility. Bombardier Transportation performs train maintenance at the facility on behalf of Metrolinx, the owner of GO Transit. Bombardier currently has a 5-year contract with two options of five years each to maintain GO Transit trains. History The Grand Trunk Railway created the Mimico Yard in 1910 west of its Mimico station on the west side of Royal York Road. The yard had a locomotive roundhouse and facilities to maintain and repair freight cars. Freight trains were assembled and dispatched from the yard. 501 Queen (301 Queen during overnight periods) is an east–west Toronto streetcar route in Ontario, Canada, operated by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). At long, it is one of the longest surface routes operated by the TTC, the longest streetcar route operating in Canada and one of the longest streetcar routes operating in the world. Long Branch GO Station
Long Branch is a GO Transit railway station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the Lakeshore West line stations, serving the Long Branch neighbourhood. Being one of the original GO Stations built in 1967, it is now scheduled for modernization. The plans would make the station accessible with new elevators, connecting tunnels, washrooms and canopies over the platforms. It is expected to be 2016 before these upgrades are complete. Mimico
Mimico is a neighbourhood (and a former municipality) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, being located in the south-west area of Toronto on Lake Ontario. It is in the south-east corner of the former Township (and later, City) of Etobicoke, and was an independent municipality from 1911 to 1967. Mimico is the oldest of the former Lakeshore Municipalities. The Town of Mimico was established by a plan of sub-division in 1856, but was not sub-divided from the former Township of Etobicoke until 1911.
