Milton Reyes
Milton Alexánder Reyes Galeas (born 2 May 1974) is a retired Honduran football player, who played for primarily F.C. Motagua. Club career Nicknamed ''Jocón'', Reyes began playing professional football as a central defender with Yoro FC of the Honduran second division in 1993. He moved to then newly promoted Independiente Villela, for whom he made his debut in the Honduran National League on 24 September 1995 against Vida. He subsequently moved to Motagua, one of Honduras's most prestigious clubs, where he would play from 1997 to 2002, helping the club to five championships. Major League Soccer In 2002, he moved to Major League Soccer, where he signed a contract with D.C. United. Reyes immediately impressed with his offensive forays from the right back position, and ended the season with 24 starts and two assists to his credit. The UNCAF Interclub Cup was an annual international football competition held in the UNCAF region (Central America). The competition was open to the leading domestic club teams in the region. The winners of each national league qualified automatically. It also provided qualification places for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, to which the top three teams advanced. Starting in 2008, all of the Central American nations have one or two teams qualifying directly to the expanded CONCACAF Champions League, thus this tournament ceased to be played. The tournament had been known as the ''Copa Fraternidad Centroamericana'' from 1971 to 1983. It was discontinued between 1983 and 1996, when it was revived as the ''Torneo Grandes de Centroamerica''. The 2001 Copa América was held in Colombia, from 11 to 29 July. It was organised by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body. Colombia won the tournament for the 1st time without conceding a goal. Brazil were the two-time defending champions, but they were knocked out of the tournament by Honduras after suffering a 0–2 defeat in the quarter-final. There is no qualifying for the final tournament. CONMEBOL's ten South American countries participate, along with two more invited countries, making a total of twelve teams competing in the tournament. Originally, Mexico and CONCACAF Champions Canada were invited. Prior to the tournament, three meetings were held by CONMEBOL authorities who were concerned about potential security issues in Colombia. On 1 July they announced the cancellation of the tournament. 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the fifth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and the 15th overall CONCACAF tournament. It was held in Los Angeles, Miami, and San Diego in the United States. The format of the tournament changed from 1998; it was expanded to twelve teams, split into four groups of three. The top two teams in each group would advance to the quarter-finals. Peru and Colombia were invited from CONMEBOL, and the Republic of Korea was invited from AFC. With all three games in Group D ending in ties and Canada tied with the Republic of Korea on every tiebreaker, a coin toss was used. Canada won and advanced to the quarter-finals.
