Miltiádis Tentóglou
Miltiadis "Miltos" Tentoglou ( ; born 18 March 1998) is a Greek long jump athlete, who is 14th in the all time lists, but one of the best in terms of achievements, as he is a double Olympic Champion with multiple World and European titles also to his name in a career which has brought him 11 gold medals. He won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. In 2022, Tentoglou became the World Indoor champion jumping the current Greek indoor record of 8.55 metres, which places him sixth best indoor on the world all-time list, and took silver at the outdoor World Championships. He is a six-time European champion, winning a record three consecutive outdoor titles in 2018, 2022 and 2024 and a record three successive men's indoor titles between 2019 and 2023. IAAF Continental Cup
The IAAF Continental Cup was an international track and field competition organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The event was proposed by IAAF former President Primo Nebiolo and was first held in 1977 as the IAAF World Cup. The event was initially held every two years, but following the establishment of the World Athletics Championships it moved to a quadrennial basis. The 1989 edition was held the same year as the World Indoor Championships, then moved to the even-year between the Summer Olympics, ensuring the sport of athletics had a global competition in all years. The original format included separate men's and women's competitions consisting of 21 events each, with team points being awarded for the finishing position of each athlete. The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships was the 19th edition of the international indoor track and field competition, organised by the World Athletics. The event was held between 1–3 March at the Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, United Kingdom. World Indoor Championships In Athletics
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the outdoor World Athletics Championships in the future, and in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The Championships due to be held in China in 2020 were postponed because of the COVID pandemic, as were the attempted running of the China edition in then 2021 and 2023, eventually being scheduled for 2025. The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was pushed back by one year due to the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics to 2021. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. The 2023 World Athletics Championships (), the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, were held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre (Budapest), National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary. The tournament returned to its usual two-year cycle after the previous event in Eugene, Oregon, United States was postponed to 2022, held a little 13 months earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These are the first World Athletics Championships in Hungary. The city of Budapest had previously stated an interest in hosting the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, 2007 World Championships, but withdrew and it was eventually held in Osaka. Athletics At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's Long Jump
The men's long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics was held in Paris, France, on 4 and 6 August 2024. This was the 30th time that the event is contested at the Summer Olympics. Summary Defending Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou returned as the world leader. Tentoglou was also the 2023 World Champion and 2022 silver medalist. Wang Jianan won in 2022, Simon Ehammer won bronze and is #2 for 2024. 2023 silver medalist Wayne Pinnock jumped well indoors in 2024 but didn't quite match it outdoors. 19 year old Mattia Furlani showed several good results in 2024. Tentoglou only needed one jump to auto qualify for the final. Radek Juška took two.
