Miloslav Špinka
Miloslav Špinka (3 December 1919 – 26 April 2009) was a Czech motorcycle speedway rider. He earned international caps for the Czechoslovakia national speedway team. Biography Špinka came to prominence after winning the bronze medal at the Golden Helmet of Pardubice. He also took part in ice races and won the first post-war competition in Czechoslovakia, held in 1947 on Kamencové jezero in Chomutov. In 1950 and 1956, he was runner-up in the Czech Republic Individual Speedway Championship and in 1956, was called up to the Czechoslovak speedway national team, where he remained a member until 1961. On 31 May 1959, he was the first Czechoslovak rider to win the qualifying round of the individual world championships, winning the quarter final during the 1959 Individual Speedway World Championship, held at Stražišče Sports Park in Kranj. KAMK Pardubice
Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK, in Finnish: Kajaanin ammattikorkeakoulu) is a university of applied sciences located in the town of Kajaani. Chomutov
Chomutov (; ) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 47,000 inhabitants. There are almost 80,000 inhabitants in the city's wider metropolitan area. The historic city centre is well preserved and is protected as an urban monument zone. Administrative division Chomutov consists of only one municipal part and is the only such Czech statutory city. Milan Špinka
Milan Špinka (5 May 1951 – 14 August 2024) was a Czech speedway rider. He earned ten international caps for the Czechoslovakia national speedway team. Speedway career Špinka won the gold medal at the Individual Ice Speedway World Championship in the 1974 Individual Ice Speedway World Championship. He also won a silver and bronze medal at the Championships. In 1970, he was selected for the Czechoslovakia junior team for their tour of Britain. In 1974, he represented his country in a test series against England. He rode in two world longtrack finals in 1973 and 1974. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1979 to 1983, riding for Ipswich Witches and Swindon Robins. Kranj
Kranj (, ) is the List of cities and towns in Slovenia, fourth-largest city in Slovenia and the largest urban center of the traditional region of Upper Carniola (northwestern Slovenia) and the Slovene Alps. 1959 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1959 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 14th edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. The event was sponsored by the Sunday Pictorial. New Zealand continued their recent domination as Ronnie Moore won his second title with a 15-point maximum and New Zealand won their fourth title in six years. Kamencové Jezero
Kamencové jezero (Alum Lake) is a lake in the municipal area of Chomutov, Czech Republic. It is Artificial lake, artificial in that it came into being due to 18th century mining. Kamencové jezero, at an altitude of , was caused at the end of the 18th century by flooding the mines used between the 16th and 18th centuries. It occupies an area of 15.95 ha and the maximum depth is 3.4 m. The high content (about 1%) of alum in the water from Alum Lake prevents the lake from the growth of weed and anabaena. The British Newspaper Archive website provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library's Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The library has an almost complete collection of British and Irish newspapers since 1840. This is partly because of the legal deposit legislation of 1869, which required newspapers to supply a copy of each edition of a newspaper to the library. London editions of national daily and Sunday newspapers are complete back to 1801. In total, the collection consists of 660,000 bound volumes and 370,000 reels of microfilm containing tens of millions of newspapers with 52,000 titles on 45 km of shelves. Czechoslovakia National Speedway Team
The Czechoslovakia national speedway team were one of the teams that competed in international team motorcycle speedway. History The Czechoslovakian speedway team (which consisted predominantly of Czech Republic riders) competed in the inaugural Speedway World Team Cup during the 1960 Speedway World Team Cup and won the bronze medal after finishing third in the final. Throughout the history of World Team Cup, the team were regular World Cup contenders from 1960 until their final World Cup in 1992. They reached the final on fourteen occasions, winning the silver medal in 1963 and two more bronze medals in 1977 and 1979. In addition to the four medals at the World Cup, the team won a bronze medal at the Speedway World Pairs Championship.
