Millswood
Millswood is an inner-southern mainly residential suburb of Adelaide in the City of Unley. It was named after Scotsman Samuel Mills, who arrived in the colony in 1839. Description The suburb is dissected by Goodwood Road, Adelaide, Goodwood Road, which travels north to the Adelaide city centre from the southern suburb of Pasadena, South Australia, Pasadena. On the west side of Goodwood Road it is surrounded by the suburbs of Goodwood, Forestville, Black Forest and Clarence Park. On the east side of Goodwood Road it is surrounded by the suburbs of Goodwood, Hyde Park, Unley Park and Kings Park. At the northern edge of the west side of the suburb, the Adelaide-Goodwood railway line forks with the Seaford railway line going south-west and the Belair railway line going south-east. Millswood railway station, located on the Belair line, on the southern edge of the suburb, was closed in 1995 but reopened in 2014. Millswood Railway Station
Millswood railway station is located on the Belair line in Adelaide. Situated in the Adelaide suburb of Millswood, it is from Adelaide station. History The station opened circa 1910. The platforms were constructed of earth-filled concrete each side of the dual tracks, which were both broad gauge until 1995. There were timber framed, iron clad open passenger shelters on each platform. The two outbound Unley Park and Hawthorn stations had similar shelters. A ticket office was provided on the Up (western) platform until being demolished in 1985, and the original shelters were removed in March 1988 and replaced with the bus stop type shelters seen at some stations on the TransAdelaide network. Millswood station closed on 28 April 1995, simultaneously with stations at Clapham and Hawthorn despite criticism from nearby residents, with the conversion of the Adelaide-Wolseley line to standard gauge under the One Nation programme. Belair Railway Line
The Belair line is a suburban rail commuter route in greater Adelaide, South Australia, that runs from the Adelaide railway station to Belair in the Adelaide Hills via the Adelaide-Wolseley line using diesel 3000/3100 class railcars. This part of the Adelaide–Wolseley line comprised two broad-gauge tracks until the Adelaide–Wolseley line was converted to standard gauge in 1995. Now two separate single-track lines run in parallel from Adelaide to Belair: the Belair commuter line – still broad gauge – and the line to Wolseley thence interstate – standard gauge – line. Goodwood Road, Adelaide
Goodwood Road (and its southern sections as Fiveash Drive and Ayliffes Road) is a major north–south arterial road, approximately 10 kilometres long, in Adelaide, South Australia. It runs between the Adelaide city centre and Adelaide's southern suburbs of Pasadena and Panorama, and St Marys. Route Goodwood starts at the intersection of Anzac Highway, West Terrace and South Terrace in the south-western corner of the Adelaide city centre. Marryatville is a small suburb about east of Adelaide's central business district, in the local council area of City of Norwood Payneham St Peters. Comprising low- to medium-density housing, two large schools, a church and several shops, it also has two creeks running through it. Hyde Park is an affluent inner-southern suburb of Adelaide in the City of Unley. It features King William Road, a popular shopping and dining destination in Adelaide.
