Million Pound Game
Million Pound Game (stylized as £1M Game) was an annual rugby league game that decides which Championship teams will be promoted to Super League, and which Super League teams would be relegated for the following season. Instituted in 2015 and played until 2018, the game was played as the final of The Qualifiers replacing the playoffs and Championship Grand Final. In 2019, the Championship Grand Final returned but used the "Million Pound Game" name until 2021. The name alludes to the higher level of funding Super League clubs receive. 2018 Rugby League Qualifiers
The 2018 Rugby League Qualifiers is the format used in European rugby league, to determine promotion and relegation between the top two divisions, and forms the second phase of Super League XXIII and the 2018 Rugby League Championship. Existing Super League sides; Salford Red Devils, Leeds Rhinos and Hull Kingston Rovers reconfirmed their Super League status but Widnes Vikings were relegated to the Championship after only winning one of their seven games. They will be replaced in Super League by London Broncos, who defeated Toronto Wolfpack 4-2 in the Million Pound Game, ending the Broncos four year exile from Super League. The RFL Championship Leaders' Shield is a shield awarded to the team finishing the season top of Championship in the sport of rugby league football. Currently the Shield is awarded to the team finishing top of the Championship at the end of the regular season. The League One Play-Off Final is a series of play-off games that determine the one or both of teams who are promoted to the Championship. Allan A. Lamport Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium on King Street West in the Liberty Village neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 2017 Super 8s were the third season of the Rugby Football League domestic competition in which the format of splitting teams after a certain number of games have been played. The format was employed across all three divisions and was used to decide championships, promotion and relegation. For the clubs in Super League XXII the split came after 23 games. The top eight clubs played each other once more before the top four team entered the playoffs for a place in the Super League Grand Final. In this group, points amassed during the regular season were carried forward to the Super 8 stage. The four teams finishing bottom of the Super League after 23 rounds went into a group of eight with the four teams who finished top of the Championship.
