Miljenko Horvat
Miljenko Horvat (1935–2012) was an artist, architect, author and illustrator, born in 1935 in Varaždin, now Croatia. He spent much of his career in Canada. Career Horvat studied at Technical-architectural faculty of University of Zagreb, where Josip Vaništa was a professor. Horvat began to paint from an early age, and during the study of architecture has become the youngest member of the avant-garde group with an international reputation, Gorgona. His work within the group includes various projects: Gorgona - Then and Now, Neo Dada: Gorgona , Absurd Freedom, Socialism and Modernity, Marginal Specificities: Avant-Garde Art of ex-Yugoslavia 1914 - 1989, Marginal Specificities – Regional Avant-Garde Art, Marginal Specificities – Regional Avant-Garde Art 1915 – 1989. University Of Zagreb
The University of Zagreb ( hr, Sveučilište u Zagrebu, ; la, Universitas Studiorum Zagrabiensis) is the largest Croatian university and the oldest continuously operating university in the area covering Central Europe south of Vienna and all of Southeastern Europe. The University of Zagreb and the University North are the only public universities operating in Northern Croatia, Northern and Central Croatia. The history of the University began on September 23, 1669, when the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor, Leopold I issued a decree granting the establishment of the ''Jesuit Academy of the Royal Free City of Zagreb''. Gorgona Group
The Gorgona Group (named after the mythological creature Gorgon), was a Croatian avant-garde art group which consisted of artists and art historians. The group, made up of Dimitrije Bašičević-Mangelos, Miljenko Horvat, Marijan Jevšovar, Julije Knifer, Ivan Kožarić, Matko Meštrović, Radoslav Putar, Đuro Seder, , operated along the lines of anti-art in Zagreb between 1959 and 1966. Beside individual works linked to traditional techniques, the members proposed different concepts and forms of artistic communication, ran a gallery, and published the "anti-magazine" ''Gorgona''. In each issue, they featured one artist's work such as Dieter Roth or Julije Knifer. The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec ( en, National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec), abbreviated as MNBAQ, is an art museum in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The museum is situated in Battlefield Park and is a complex consisting of four buildings. Three of the buildings were purpose-built for the museum. One building was initially built as a provincial prison before being repurposed for museum use. The institution was opened as the Musée de la province de Québec in 1933. The museum was a provincial archives, arts, and natural science museum until 1962, when the natural science collection was removed. In the following year, the museum was renamed the Musée du Quebec. The Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts (french: Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke) is an art museum in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. It is located at 241 Dufferin Street in downtown Sherbrooke. The museum receives funding from the City of Sherbrooke, the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications and from its members. History The Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1982 by local art lovers. It is the main institution in the Estrie region for the display and conservation of art. It was accredited by the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications in March 1990. In 1996, it relocated to the former head office of the Eastern Townships Bank, a building constructed in 1876. Sudac Collection
The Marinko Sudac Collection, based in Zagreb, Croatia, has been created with a clear collecting strategy based on the region of Central and Eastern Europe, additionally spanning from the Baltic area to the Black Sea.
