The Israeli Military Court of Appeals is the supreme military court of the Israel Defense Forces. The GOC Army Headquarters (, ''Mifkedet Zro'a HaYabasha'', abbreviated Mazi), is a multi-corps command headquarters of the Ground Forces of the Israel Defense Forces. The current size of the Israeli Ground Forces is estimated at 126,000 active soldiers and 400,000 soldiers in reserve. Name The GOC Army Headquarters is known unofficially as ''Mazi'', the Hebrew pronunciation for an acronym for "Ground Arm Command" (, (, ''Mifkedet Zro'a ha-Yabasha''), which was the GOC Army Headquarters' previous name before being renamed to the current "Ground Arm" (). ( or "first/leader of a group" in Biblical Hebrew) is a senior military rank in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) for officers who in other countries would have the rank of general, air marshal, or admiral. In addition to the ''aluf'' rank, four other ranks are derivatives of the word, together, constituting the five Israel Defense Forces ranks, highest ranks in the IDF. The Southern Command (), often abbreviated to Padam (), is a regional command of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). It is responsible for the Negev, the Arava, and Eilat.
