Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The ATP Challenger Tour, known until the end of 2008 as the ATP Challenger Series, is a series of international men's professional tennis tournaments. The Challenger Tour events are the second-highest tier of tennis competition, behind the ATP Tour. Burnie is a port city on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia. When founded in 1827, it was named Emu Bay, being renamed after William Burnie, a director of the Van Diemen's Land Company, in the early 1840s. , Burnie had an urban population of 19,550. Sadik Kadir (born 27 July 1981) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography Originally from the Indonesian city of Surabaya, Kadir later grew up in Sydney. Kadir made two main draw appearances at the Australian Open. At the 2005 Australian Open he and Shannon Nettle received a wild card for the men's doubles event. Peter Luczak ( pl, Łuczak, ; born 31 August 1979) is a retired professional tennis player for Australia. His career-high ATP singles ranking was World No. 64, achieved in October 2009. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, Luczak won the Gold in the doubles. Luczak came to Australia at 9 months of age, when his parents, Eva and Kris, left Warsaw in 1980, where they settled in Melbourne. Luczak started playing tennis at the age of 5, he was introduced to the game by his Polish born father Kris. He did not have major success at junior level and was not able to receive funding from Tennis Australia nor have a major sponsor. Robert Smeets (born 10 November 1985) is an Australian retired professional tennis player. Though born in the Netherlands, Smeets moved to Australia aged 12 and took residency. Personal life Smeets has two sisters, called Karin and Cheyenne. His mother is Jeannette and father, Joe. He lives in Brisbane. Tennis career Smeets plays predominantly on the ATP Challenger Series and ITF Men's Circuit.
