Milan Lapčević
Milan Lapčević ( sr-Cyrl, Милан Лапчевић; born 8 October 1969) is a politician in Serbia. He has served three terms in the National Assembly of Serbia, most recently from 2016 to 2020. Formerly a member of the Democratic Party of Serbia (''Demokratska stranka Srbije'', DSS), Lapčević has been an independent politician since 2018. Private life Lapčević is a graduated mechanical engineer living in Niš. In 2015–16, he led a hiking expedition through Albania and Greece to commemorate the centenary of the Serbian army's retreat through Albania during World War I. Politician Municipal and regional politics Lapčević served on the executive board of Niš's city government from 2000 to 2004 and was the administrator for Serbia's Nišava District from 2004 to 2008. In May 2004, he introduced an anti-corruption program focused on border crossings between Serbia and Bulgaria. 2012 Serbian Local Elections
Local elections in Serbia were held on 6 May 2012. Pursuant to the Constitution of Serbia, the parliamentary Speaker (at the time Slavica Đukić Dejanović from SPS) signed on 13 March 2012 the Decision on calling the elections for councilors of municipal assemblies, town assemblies and the Belgrade City Assembly for 6 May 2012, with the exception of: the councilors of the municipal assemblies of Aranđelovac, Bor, Vrbas, Vrnjačka Banja, Knjaževac, Kovin, Kosjerić, Kosovska Mitrovica, Leposavić, Negotin, Novo Brdo, Odžaci, Peć, Prijepolje and Ruma and councilors of the Priština Town Assembly, which have already had extraordinary elections in the period from 2008 to 2012, while for councilors of the municipal assembly of Kula, the elections were already called earlier on 29 February 2012. Dveri
The Serbian Movement Dveri (), commonly just known as Dveri (), is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Serbia. Its current president since 2024 is Ivan Kostić, who succeeded Boško Obradović, one of the co-founders of the party. Formed as a youth-orientated political organisation in 1999, it published an eponymous student magazine that promoted clerical and nationalist content. Through the 2000s, it operated as a non-governmental organisation that campaigned in favour of Christian right views, that included opposition to abortion and opposition to gay rights. Dveri took part in the 2012 elections where it failed to obtain any seats in the National Assembly, although in the 2016 elections it entered the National Assembly in a joint list with the Democratic Party of Serbia, obtaining 13 seats in total, 7 of which belonged to Dveri. 2014 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 16 March 2014, with nineteen electoral lists competing for 250 members of the National Assembly. The election was called early, after tensions in the coalition led by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić scheduled the election at the same time as the previously announced Belgrade City Assembly election. Voter turnout was 53.09%, with 3.22% of votes invalid. The Serbian Progressive Party and their coalition won the election by a landslide, receiving just under half the valid votes and winning an absolute majority of 158 seats in the assembly. Its former partner the Socialist Party of Serbia matched its previous achievement with 44 seats, while only two more non-ethnic lists surpassed the 5% threshold: the Democratic Party (DS) with 19 seats, and the New Democratic Party coalition led by former president Boris Tadić with 18 seats.
