Mikkelborg
Mikkelborg is a seaside locality in Hørsholm Municipality, located between Rungsted to the south and Kokkedal to the north, some 20 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Mikkelborg Strandpark (Mikkelborg Beach Park) is a public park and beach. Mikkelgård, a listed house from 1916 located inside the park, is now operated as a restaurant. History The area was built over with large houses in the beginning of the 20th century. Villa Mikkeborg was built in 1900 by a son of Frederik Horsens Block from Kokkedal House. Another house was built by Carlsberg-heir Vagn Jacobsen in 1926. Later the Danish state began to acquire some of the large houses in the Mikkelborg area with the intention of creating a beach park similar to the one at Bellevue Beach further to the south. The 8-hectares park was protected in 1999. Other houses were purchased by Hørsholm Municipality. They were demolished in the early 1980s to make way for the housing estate Mikkelborg Park. Mikkelgård
Mikkelgård is a former country house situated in Mikkelborg Beach Park, Hørsholm Municipality, some 25km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the former summer retreat of the composer who named his house after the locality. History Mikkelgård was built in 1915–16 to a design by Povl Baumann who was influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. It is a four-winged house built with exposed timber framing facing the central courtyard. In 1990, it was converted into a restaurant. The first head chef was . The former stables were renovated in 1997 and have room for 120 dining guests. Hørsholm Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 31 km2, and has a total population of 25,168 (1. January 2025). Rungsted
Rungsted, also known as ''Rungsted Kyst'', is an affluent suburban neighborhood in Hørsholm Municipality on the Øresund coast north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The center of Hørsholm is located two kilometers west of Rungsted. At the Øresund coast is Rungsted Harbour, a marina. History The name Rungsted is first recorded in 1346 in the form ''Runæstigh''. The name may be derived from Old Danish ''runi'' meaning and ''sti 'svinesti', later changed to ''sted''. Alternatively the first part of the name may refer to the small waves that are characteristic of the Øresund. Rungsted's inn, Rungsted Kro, is first mentioned in the beginning of the 16th century but it is probably much older. The inn moved in 1803, and the buildings were renamed Rungstedlund. Kokkedal () is the municipal seat of Fredensborg Municipality and a northern settlement in the urban area of Hørsholm, located on the coastline of northern Zealand, Denmark, between the two towns, Nivå and Hørsholm, 30 km north of Copenhagen. A villa is a type of house that was originally an ancient Roman upper class country house that provided an escape from urban life.
