Mikhail Lavronsky
Mikhail Leonidovich Lavrovsky (; born 29 October 1941) is a Soviet and Russian former principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet. Biography Lavrovsky was born in Tbilisi to a family of respected dancers. His father, Leonid Lavrovsky, was a well-known choreographer, while his mother, Elena Chikvaidze, was a ballerina. He was trained at the Moscow Choreographic School where his teachers were Olga Khodot and , and graduated from there in 1961. Three years later, Yury Grigorovich, a well-known choreographer and teacher, arrived at the Bolshoi. He gave Lavrovsky the role of the prince in ''The Nutcracker'', and later on Lavrovsky appeared in such roles as Ferkhad in '' Legend of Love'', as well as in ''Spartacus'' for which he won the Lenin Prize. In 1977 he was promoted to principal dancer and became a choreographer at the Tbilisi Ballet. Georgian National Opera Theater
The Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi ( ka, თბილისის ოპერისა და ბალეტის სახელმწიფო აკადემიური თეატრი, tr), formerly known as the Tiflis Imperial Theater, is an opera house situated on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, Georgia. Founded in 1851, Tbilisi Opera is the main opera house of Georgia and is among the oldest opera houses in Eastern Europe. Since 1896, the theater has resided in an exotic neo-Moorish edifice originally constructed by Victor Johann Gottlieb Schröter, a prominent architect of Baltic German origin. Although definitively Oriental in its decorations and style, the building's layout, foyers and the main hall are that of a typical European opera house. People's Artists Of The USSR
People's Artist of the USSR, also sometimes translated as National Artist of the USSR, was an honorary title granted to artists of the Soviet Union. The term is confusingly used to translate two Russian language titles: Народный артист СССР (''Narodny artist SSSR''), awarded in performing arts and Народный художник СССР (''Narodny khudozhnik SSSR''), granted in some visual arts. As those titles were granted by the government, honorees were afforded certain privileges and would often receive commissions from the Minister of Culture of the Soviet Union. Accordingly, artists and authors who expressed criticism of the Communist Party were seldom granted such recognition, if not outright censored. Each Soviet Republic, as well as the Autonomous Republics (ASSRs), had a similar award that would be held previously by virtually every receiver of the higher title of People's Artist of the USSR.
