Mike Shropshire
Mike Shropshire (born May 22, 1942) is an American sportswriter. Starting as a reporter for the ''Fort Worth Press'' in the 1960s, he has written for various publications throughout his career, including the ''Fort Worth Star-Telegram'', ''The Dallas Morning News'', ''D Magazine'', ''Playboy'', and ''Sports Illustrated''. He has also authored nine books, including ''Seasons in Hell'', an account of his tenure writing about the Texas Rangers baseball franchise during its early years. The ''Fort Worth Star-Telegram'' is an American daily newspaper serving Fort Worth and Tarrant County, the western half of the North Texas area known as the Metroplex. It is owned by The McClatchy Company. History In May 1905, Amon G. Carter accepted a job as an advertising space salesman in Fort Worth. A few months later, he agreed to help finance and run a new newspaper in town. The ''Fort Worth Star'' printed its first newspaper on February 1, 1906, with Carter as the advertising manager. The Texas Rangers are an American professional baseball team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
