Mike Morreale
Mike Morreale (born August 10, 1971) is a Canadian former football player and current sports executive. He was an award-winning receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) before becoming the commissioner of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Early years A graduate of Cardinal Newman Secondary School, where he earned athlete of the year honours and was football MVP twice, Morreale played his university football with the McMaster University Marauders from 1991 to 1994. He finished his Marauder career with 116 receptions for 1,880 yards and a school-record 16 touchdowns and had 217 yards on 27 punt returns and 185 yards on nine kickoff returns. CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Award
The Most Outstanding Canadian Award is annually awarded to the best Canadian player in the Canadian Football League. The two nominees for the award are the Lew Hayman Trophy winner from the East Division, and the Dr. Beattie Martin Trophy winner from the West Division. The winner of the award is chosen by the Football Reporters of Canada since 1954. Players born outside Canada may win the award if they become citizens and attain National status. Paul Masotti
Paul Masotti (born March 10, 1965) is a former professional Canadian football player and current front office executive with the Canadian Football League (CFL)'s Toronto Argonauts. Masotti played the wide receiver position for 12 seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, from 1988 to 1999, retiring just before the 2000 season to join the Argos front office first as executive vice-president, and then as general manager. College career Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Masotti played for the Axemen of Acadia University and was named an AUAA All-Star in 1985 and 1987. Professional career Masotti was the Toronto Argonauts first pick and 15th overall in the 1988 CFL Canadian College Draft. Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian
The Dick Suderman Trophy () for the Grey Cup's Most Valuable Canadian is awarded annually to the Canadian player deemed to have the best performance in the Grey Cup game, the championship of the Canadian Football League. This award is presented before the Grey Cup trophy is presented. The winner does not necessarily have to play for the Grey Cup winning team in order to qualify. The award was introduced at the 1971 Grey Cup, and the first winner was Dick Suderman, a Canadian defensive end. A year later, just six weeks before the playing of the 1972 Grey Cup, Suderman collapsed and died from a brain hemorrhage after playing a regular season game; the trophy was subsequently renamed in his honour. St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School is a Catholic secondary school located in the community of Stoney Creek in Hamilton. The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL; ) is the premier men's professional basketball league in Canada, as recognized by Canada Basketball.
