Mike Marsh (musician)
Mike Marsh (born August 13, 1974 in Miami, Florida) is the drummer for The Avett Brothers and formerly of Dashboard Confessional. Mike was featured on all Dashboard Confessional's albums, from '' The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most'' to ''Alter the Ending''. He also played with them for MTV Unplugged. In 2006, Marsh and Dashboard Confessional did an AOL Sessions recording, playing not only their songs, but a cover of "In A Big Country" by Big Country. According to posts by Mike on Facebook, he officially joined The Avett Brothers as their drummer in early 2013. Mike is also an engineer and record producer. He has a recording studio in East Nashville called Papermill Studio. Biography Marsh started drumming in 9th grade around 13 years of age. He was the drummer and one of the lead vocalists for the Miami ska/thrash/punk band, The Agency, which featured guitarist/vocalist Klaus Ketelhohn and bassist/vocalist Chris Drueke. Christopher Ender Carrabba (born April 10, 1975) is the lead singer and guitarist of the band Dashboard Confessional, lead singer of the band Further Seems Forever, and is the vocalist for the folk band Twin Forks. Early life and education Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, United States, Carrabba's parents divorced when he was three. At age 16, he moved with his mother Anne, brother Nick, stepbrother and stepfather to Boca Raton, Florida. Carrabba remains close to some relatives on his paternal side, but is not close to his father Andrew specifically. As a teenager, Carrabba was interested in skateboarding and passionate about music. ''The Shade of Poison Trees'' is the fifth studio album recorded by the band Dashboard Confessional. Production and composition ''The Shade of Poison Trees'' had been recorded over 10 days in Florida with producer Don Gilmore and engineer Mark Kiczula. Recording took place at Bieler Brothers Studio with assistant engineer Matt LaPlant, and at The Dungeon with assistant engineer Joe Williams. Gilmore mixed the recordings with help from Kiczula, at Bieler Brothers Studio. George Marino mastered the recordings at Sterling Sound. Background Dashboard Confessional started as the one-man acoustic project of vocalist/guitarist Chris Carrabba. Background Dashboard Confessional started as an acoustic side project for vocalist/guitarist Chris Carrabba while he was fronting Further Seems Forever. The project's first album ''The Swiss Army Romance'' was released in early 2000 through local independent label Fiddler Records. Using his connections within the Music of Florida#Punk rock, punk scene, Carrabba was able to perform on a few tours. ''The Swiss Army Romance'' is the debut studio album by American band Dashboard Confessional, released in March 2000 by Fiddler Records. Release It was released through Fiddler Records in March 2000, limited to 1,000 copies. A decision was made shortly afterwards to sell the album to Drive-Thru Records. Drive-Thru released the album on November 14, 2000. In 2003, the rights to the record were sold to Chris Carrabba and Vagrant Records and the album was re-issued on April 22, 2003. The re-release included bonus tracks "Hold On" and "This Is a Forgery".
