Mike Greene (American Football)
Mike Greene (born May 3, 1999) is an American professional football defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the James Madison Dukes. Early life Greene was born on May 3, 1999, in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Highland Springs High School and helped them win consecutive class championships as a junior and senior. He was an important member of those teams, being named a first-team all-conference selection as a junior and a first-team all-state choice as a junior. He committed to play college football for the James Madison Dukes. College career As a true freshman in 2017, Greene played nine games and helped the Dukes be the runner-up in the national championship. He became a starter the following year, starting all 13 games while totaling 41 tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. The James Madison Dukes are the college sports in the United States, intercollegiate athletics teams that represent James Madison University (JMU), in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The name "Dukes" is derived from Samuel Page Duke, the university's second president. In gridiron football, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. They serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. Buck Buchanan Award
The Buck Buchanan Award is awarded annually to the most outstanding defensive player in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) of college football, and was first given in 1995 after the Walter Payton Award was designated solely for offensive players. It was named in honor of Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive tackle Buck Buchanan (died 1992), who starred at Grambling State University. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles.
